An information that may be useful: about one/two weeks ago the booting process was halting for 30 seconds on ata1 (where no devices are attached), while with the latest commits it doesn't halt anymore. -- Alex Dupre [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.alexdupre.com/ [EMAIL PROTECTED] Today's excuse: Just type 'mv * /dev/null'. ___ [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-current To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

Thinkpad x31 freezes after lid close
I'm having a problem on my IBM Thinkpad X31. The laptop lid, when shut freezes everything. The same thing goes for the standby and power buttons. Even pressing the little flashligt button freezes everything. Standby and Hibernate don't work in the least bit. I can't shut down properly. I solved this in NetBSD by adding: optionsAPM_NO_IDLE # Don't call BIOS CPU idle function this solved all my problems and i just choose not to put the laptop in standby. is there an equivalent in FreeBSD? when adding device apm in the kernel no apm devices are dicovered. I'd like to use the ACPI but it seems harder to achieve this function. any ideas? ___ [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-current To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

Oracle 9i installation makes my system reboot
Hi, I followed the meaningful instructions from http://www.shadowcom.net/freebsd-oracle9i/ All worked well until the installer tried to launch netca. The netca GUI never appeared. Then OUI tried to launch dbca. A blank windows appeared, and a few second later the system rebooted. I uninstalled the whole thing and I tried again to no avail. There are not many clues in the system or Oracle log files. Since the drm updates to 5-CURRENT I'm getting multiple instances of the following at boot (and not trap 12 :-) ): from dmesg drm0: port 0xc800-0xc8ff mem 0xff48-0xff4f, 0xe80-0xefff irq 11 at device 0.0 on pci1 info: [drm] AGP at 0xf800 64MB info: [drm] Initalized radeon 1.9.0 20020828 on minor 0 drm0: [MPSAFE] error: [drm:pid619:radeon_ioctl] *ERROR* can't find authenticator ... error: [drm:pid720:radeon_ioctl] *ERROR* can't find authenticator which eventually stop. I'm currently composing this message using KDE 3.1.4 using that display. The card is a Radeon 7200 (original All-in-Wonder) which I thought was 32MB, but I could be wrong. Motherboard is an old SM P6DGH dual PIII/850 which has i20 on-board (not in use) and dual PCI card busses with a total of 11 slots. The AGP slot is allegedly AGP 1X/2X. if_ath advice required
Hi there, I have a D-Link g650 cardbus atheros wireless device and I have been getting serious problems with it. It attaches fine, then I configure it, it connects to the USR8054 AP, or in fact any AP I have tested it against, then soon after it stops working. Sometimes after transferring data, more often than not before any major traffic. When it fails, the card sits there flashing the Act light. bge0 driver "PHY read timeout" and pccardd not finding PCMCIA card, DELL Latitude D600, with current of yesterday
Hi, some severe problems with a brand new DELL Latitude D600 laptop. It has a Broadcom BCM5702 Gigabit Ethernet, ASIC rev. 0x1002, on board. On the 1st boot FreeBSD 5.1-current from a self made CD-ROM (-current from yesterday) paniced during 1st boot from CD (just before installation). It had a Fritz PCMCIA card inserted. The next installation attempt from CD was, trying to boot without ACPI, which succeeded. Then after installation and reboot it turns out that I can boot without panic even with ACPI enabled. But it might be due to one change, I replaced the Fritz ISDN card with a 3COM 3CCFE575BT, since the broadcom bge0 interface doesn't run properly. In short, these are the problems: 1. bge0 driver doesn't find PHY Laptop is connected with a working shielded CAT 5 cable to a DLINK DI 804 DSL router who has a builtin 10/100 4-port switch supporting full and half duplex cabability. 2. pcmcia card is not recognized. 3COM 3CCFE575BT This card runs fine in -current on a Toshiba Satellite PRO 4360. You see pccardd -d output at the end of the log. 3. Panic with ACPI enabled and Fritz ISDN card inserted AVM Fritz!Card PCMCIA v2.0 (info on the label) I booted now with serial com console and with boot_verbose set At the end you see - "uname -a" command- and - "pccardd -d" output Any chance to get that fixed ? Or do you think I'll better using FreeBSD 4.9 with that hardware ? Has 4.9 broadcom support ? boot -\|/-\|/-\|/-\|/-\|/-\|/-/boot/kernel/acpi.ko text=0x3b3dc \|/-\|/-\|/-\|/data=0x168c+0xee0 -syms=[0x4+0x5b30\+0x4+0x78b8|/] -\|/-\|SMAP type=01 base= len=0009f000 SMAP type=02 base=0009f000 len=1000 SMAP type=01 base=0010 len=1feae000 SMAP type=02 base=1ffae000 len=00052000 SMAP type=02 base=feda len=0006 SMAP type=02 base=ffb0 len=0050 Copyright (c) 1992-2003 The FreeBSD Project.
