3C597 fast ethernet support

1999-08-25 Thread Bret Ford

I've got a 100Mbit 3COM EISA ethernet interface. Here are the particulars:

vx0: <3Com 3C597-TX Network Adapter> at 0x5000-0x501f, 0x5c80-0x5c89
vx0: irq 12 (edge) on eisa0 slot 5

I've been running it for a while now at 10Mbit. From what I can gather, the
vx driver doesn't support fast ethernet. I'd be happy to lend the card to
anyone interested
in working on it. The reward would be my gratitude and money for your
favorite pizza and beverages! :-) Any interest?

Thanks,

Bret Ford

Problems getting 3C597 up

1999-06-04 Thread Bret Ford
I'm running 4.0 - current from the middle of May, approximately.
I recently acquired an EISA 3COM network adapter that I'm now
trying to install. Here's a snip from my dmesg output:

vx0: <3Com 3C597-TX Network Adapter> at slot 5 on eisa0
vx0: No I/O space?!
device_probe_and_attach: vx0 attach returned -1

So something is not working... :-( Anyone have any suggestions?
I'm in a bind. I need a second ethernet card to get our new DSL
line shared with our various household computers.

Thanks very much for Any input!

My firewall is set with the open rule only---and I'm still getting the behavior
described below.

Great detective work. Confirmed from here as well. PASSIVE ftp and ncftp
work.

Let's continue this thread in capital letters. We might attract some
attention! ;-)

I CAN'T FTP OUT FROM MY -CURRENT SYSTEM. I CAN FTP IN. SOMETHING
IS PROBABLY WRONG. I CAN LIST DIRECTORIES, USUALLY. 'GET' COMMANDS
HANG. I AM RUNNING -CURRENT FROM MORNING APR 13.

THANKS!

I am getting problems similar to those outlined above. I don't run natd,
either, but I do
have a firewall enabled. (open rule) I've had to 'put' files rather than 'get'
 them, since my
last build/installworld. (Yesterday's -current source)

Broken world

1999-02-27 Thread Bret Ford
My 4.0-current buildworld broke. The sources were from yesterday
night. The system is currently 4.0-current from Feb 16. My UNIX
system is a 486 main board with an evergreen upgrade. The
world was almost over, too! Argh! :-)
