pcDuino support

2014-02-28 Thread Odhiambo Washington
I'd like to buy something for my kids to play with and I was thing about
pcDuino, because of the nice specs.

I'd like to know if the pcDuino support is complete now for FreeBSD-10.

Should I buy it? If not, what is the BEST recommendation?

Aha! I already blew away the 10-CURRENT, downloaded the RC and installed
(on VMware). Now I can play with the stuff, including unbound,
freebsd-update.
BTW, I always used csup, then moved to svn on my systems. This
freebsd-update (sorry I always felt scared about it), how does it handle a
situation where I have a custom kernel?

It's NOT possible, because someone has to handle the kernel hooks, which is
the contention.
Mark as deprecated, remove the HandBook section, but only for 10.x

Here is my supfile

3$ less /usr/share/examples/cvsup/5.x-current
*default host=cvsup9.FreeBSD.org
*default base=/usr
*default prefix=/usr
*default release=cvs tag=RELENG_5_1

Apart from that, I have done

cd /usr
rm -rf obj/*
rm -rf src

Then re-cvsupped.

Hmm,

This was meant to help me but instead I was left speechless, not knowing
how to say that I did not understand the context of this ;)
How am I supposed to go over the initial problem?
When Kris Kennaway asked me that question, I emphatically told him, YES,
I did. Then what he thought I should do was to rm /usr/include/g++/*
I did exactly that, but it did not help solve the problem and even so,
I wasn't quite sure why I was to do this, after re-reading from UPDATING.
So my problem is very much alive and kicking ;)

This assertion is not correct!

I have been running 5.1 (even 5.0-RELEASE) for months. The last time I

5.1-RELEASE-p2 buildworld crash - help!!

2003-09-01 Thread ODHIAMBO Washington

Hello gurus,

I have a dead system! No service will start at all, but if I can get
over this buildworld failure, then maybe I can compile a new kernel
and get my services running. It's not a production box, but a test
box. The problem started this way:

I cvsup-ped, make buildworld, then kind of I forgot to buildkernel/
installkernel/installworld. I did another cvsup (I hadn't rebooted
even, and yes, I do build{world|kernel} in server mode, then do
installworld/mergemaster in single user mode.

Now after cvsupping afresh, I have failed to buildworld completely,
even doing cvsup N times again. Buildworld always fails with the
error depicted in the log output below:

http://ns2.wananchi.com/~wash/FreeBSD/ - that text file in there.

Thanks in advance for any pointers that may enable me over this.

What happens is you do the following:

ln -s /usr/lib/libc.so.5 /usr/lib/libc.so.4

I had apache core dumping on 5.0-RELEASE until I did that.
I haven't had time to revisit this issue although I vaguely remember
something like that being discussed..

I am sure it's not the lines in the config file.

What about building two kernels, one SMP, the other non-SMP, then
just boot wheichever kernel you want? Doesn't it server same purpose?

Hey Robin

When you are logged in as root, the virtual terminal that you are
using has those permissions - root:tty
When you login as robin, it will have robin:tty. The unused virtual
terminals will remain root:wheel

It's about who is assigned that device. Technically, I am not able to
explain this but that is what I've observed.

Allow me to give my input to this thread.

I also had these "messages" (yes, they are not errors) when I had the WITNESS
and debug options enabled in the kernel. I did not have any USB devices
connected to the ports. Once I recompiled the kernel without those options
the messages are gone.

So just do this:

# Debugging for use in -current
#optionsDDB #Enable the kernel debugger
#optionsINVARIANTS #Enable calls of extra sanity checking
#optionsINVARIANT_SUPPORT #Extra sanity checks of internal structures,
required by INVARIANTS
#optionsWITNESS #Enable checks to detect deadlocks and cycles
#optionsWITNESS_SKIPSPIN#Don't run witness on spinlocks for spee

..then recompile ...

maybe you don't want to do it, then connect some usb devices to those ports ;)

Hello All,

Mr. Nate's suspicion seems almost accurate to me. I've seen there seem to
be IRQ issues. Here attached are dmesg outputs when I boot with acpi and
without acpi.

I'd be glad to know about any solution found.

Just to add my $0.02 cents, I've seen my box freeze momentarily since I
updated to -current two days ago, but I haven't yet done enough to
capture the event that causes this. If there is some info I need to
provide, I'll be more than willing to take the matter up.

When is this "unset acpi_load" done? I can provide the info rqd.

I am going to compile a kernel with the WITNESS stuff disabled.

I have rcvd 3 responses and none of them tell me about my USB interfaces.
I hope this does not mean that my mobo has issues with 5.0 ;)

lock order reversal
^^ # this is another interesting one I'd love to know about.

 1st 0xc1bfb3f8 process lock (process lock) @ /usr/src/sys/kern/kern_descrip.c:2100
 2nd 0xc1cf3634 filedesc structure (filedesc structure) @
/usr/src/sys/kern/kern_descrip.c:2107

# Why am I getting those two lines and what could be their meaning?

Again, bear with me. I am just trying to see if I can prepare myself for 5.0-RELEASE.

Thanks in advance.
