I'm getting the following errors when I insert my pccard.

CIS is too long -- truncating
pccard0: Card has no functions!
cbb0: PC Card card activation failed

I tried to make buildkernel and installkernel with OLDCARD,
and I'm getting the following messages wheh I insert my pccard.
So, I can use the "Panasonic KX-PH402D" card.

pccard: card inserted, slot 0

I want to know how can I use my pccard with GENERIC kernel.

Regards.

There's a small set of cards that aren't being read in correctly. You
have one of the cards. It looks like I'm programming the bridges
exactly the same between oldcard and newcard. I do not know why it
isn't working, maybe a bad delay? maybe some bit I've overlooked?
I'm not sure. I see it in maybe 3 of the hundred odd cards that I
have. These cards read '0's. I have one other one that reads just
freaky random junk.

: [[ OLDCARD working ]]

yes. I see the same thing.

: I want to know how can I use my pccard with GENERIC kernel.

That might be a little difficult until this bug is fixed.

I have a wireless card that I get random junk for too, yet netbsd reads the
CIS just fine.. unfortuneatly my laptop is somewhat out of commission at the
moment so I can't really dig in to it :/

It's a shame, because I'd like to be able to port a driver for it.

PCMCIA trouble with Xircom, "CIS is too long -- truncating"

2003-08-26 Thread Andreas Klemm
Hi,

good and bad news. Good news is that -current installation
CD-Rom (JPSNAP of yesterday) doesn't panic during boot
anymore, which was the case previously (or when inserting
the card). Thanks a lot, this is a very good progress, I'm
very pleased !

But the fix opened another problem. The card isn't recognized
by the FreeBSD anymore:

[... kernel boot messages ...]

When trying to do installation, the NIC isn't found.
The PCMCIA card is a:

Yes, please tell more about your kernel config file.
I think you use
device cbb
device pccard
device cardbus

Please comment this lines and add
device pcic
device card 1

and recompile your kernel. Let me know does it help you.

Sorry not possible.

Reason is, that I can't install current on my laptop,
since I need it with ethernet for the job.

I can only migrate to current if network is running.
Sounds like a chicken and egg problem ;-)

Currently I run 4.8-STABLE on it.
And the failures I had were with a 5.1-current JPSNAP CD.
So to say with a normal GENERIC kernel.

Could you offer me boot floppies containing the change
you wanted me to test ? Then I could tell you, if kernel
detects the NIC.

yup. like I said before, this just papers over the problem...

How do I fix it? I have a few fixes in my queue, but they don't seem
to fix my problem child Home and Away card just yet. I'm likely
missing something trivially obvious :-(

This uses oldcard rather than newcard.

Yes, I know. But newcard anyway don't work for me.
