Just a heads up that the removal of the perl wrapper broke a number of ports. Exactly how many I don't yet know, but they mostly appear to be using the existence of the /usr/bin/perl file as a check for whether perl support is desired. Some of them are failing during configure but don't appear to actually require perl for the build (i.e. they were building fine with the wrapper but without the perl package installed, suggesting they don't actually invoke perl).
