Fwd: Attaching any USB device to any VM causes virtualbox to crash.
With the current virtualbox (4.3.16), attaching any USB device causes virtualbox to crash or hang, sometimes with the following message: Failed to attach the USB device [DeviceName] to the virtual machine [vm name]. Failed to create a proxy device for the USB device. (Error: VERR_READ_ERROR). Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) Component: Console Interface: IConsole {8ab7c520-2442-4b66-8d74-4ff1e195d2b6} This error has been reported by pwr2srv at https://forums.freebsd.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=48134&p=269117#p269117 The same thing happens even with a fresh, blank VM. Downgrading, either by installing the package, or by pulling the old revision of the ports tree and building that, fixes the problem. ___ freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-emulation To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-emulation-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"

If so, having a port > for Additins does not make sense IMHO? I'm not sure what you are trying to say but the vbox additions port is for FreeBSD guests only. That is required because the ISO is a big blob which does not support FreeBSD and probably never will. For Windows guests the ISO is your only choice and for Linux you sometimes have both choices depending on the distro. ___ freebsd-emulation@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-emulation To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-emulation-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"

virtualbox-ose-lite ?
Hello, Thank you for maintaining the virtualbox-ose port. Would you consider creating a "virtualbox-ose-nox11" or "virtualbox-ose-lite" port in the spirit of other non-gui applications? My main motivation would be so that I can use pkg for all packages I need. Right now virtualbox-ose is the only port that I have to customize for our environment. We run virtualbox-ose headless on our servers.
