FreeBSD Port: eaccelerator-0.9.5.r1

2006-10-31 Thread John Smith

Hello,

0.9.5 releassed.

http://eaccelerator.net/wiki/Release-0.9.5

Changes in this version (from 0.9.4):

   * This version brings full php 5.1 support, which has as
side-effect that eAccelerator won't work anymore with php 4 on
windows, but on other platforms this isn't a problem.
   * The shared memory functions, session handler and content cache
are disabled by default now. They are only used by a small amount of
users and they could allow local users to fill up the memory, if they
aren't secured properly.
   * The old web control panel and the disassembler have been removed
from the code. They have been replaced with a set of php functions
that allow the same functionality to be implemented in a PHP script.
The control.php and the dasm.php files are such scripts. More
information about this can be found in the README.
   * Memory footprint should be reduced because redundant information
in the cached scripts is no longer stored. Keeping this information
cached can be done with --with-eaccelerator-doc-comment-inclusion
   * File hashing in the cache directory has been added to improve
performance with a large amount of cache files.

WARNING: The encoder and loader DO NOT support php 5.1 nor php 5.0 and
contain a lot of bugs for php 4. This is the last release in which the
encoder/loader functionality will be available. Later a new
encoder/loader might be included but there aren't any plans for that
right now. If you really need to encode php script, you can start
[here] As always all patches and help are more than welcome.

When filing bugs against this release, remember to choose version 0.9.5!

Could you please upgrade it?

Thank you,

xmms-musepack and libmpcdec

2006-10-31 Thread Trigve Siver
Hi,

I have described my problem in this thread
http://www.freebsdforums.org/forums/showthread.php?t=45034 ... My problem is
that when I use xmms-musepack plugin (which doesn't use libmpcdec library) from
ports and play with it some MPC song, my CPU usage is bigger than using MPC
decoder which use libmpcdec (i.e. gstreamer musepack plugin with totem).. On
http://www.musepack.net/index.php?pg=lin there is xmms musepack plugin (which
is different to plugin that is in ports) which use limpcdec...So my question is
if it is possible to port this plugin into freebsd ports?

thanks Trigve

How to make minor changes

2006-10-31 Thread Paul Schmehl
I have two ports that were recently accepted into the tree. *After* they
were accepted, someone involved with the project asked me to make the
following changes to the Makefiles:

I noticed that both sguil-server and sguil-sensor have this in the Makefile:

$ grep -i squil *
Makefile:COMMENT= Squil is a network security management program

Could you change that to

Makefile:COMMENT= Sguil is a network security monitoring program

If I submit PRs for this, do I have to set PORTREVISION to 1? Or does it
matter for such a minor change?

Hi Paul,

Please send all changes as a PR with a unified diff. That might seem a
bit overkill for such a minor change, but it's the easiest way for
committers to keep track of any request.

Bumping PORTREVISION will force all users that already have this port
installed to upgrade. So the general rule is, does this change affect
them? Rewording the COMMENT is not enough reason for all users to
upgrade, so it's better to leave it alone.

Cheers,

Incrementing PORTREVISION would invite users to `upgrade' their port. A
change to COMMENT does not warrant users reinstalling the port and so
does not warrant a change to PORTREVISION.

Does cdrtools have a dependenacy on GNOME?

If it doesn't then it would be better to add a USE_CDRTOOLS knob to bsd.port.mk

Perhaps, thanks for the suggestion. Or could cdrtools-cjk become a
slave port of cdrtools with the extra dependencies on GNOME and hence
X11 added only for the -cjk version...?

Ports with version numbers going backwards: math/vtk43-headers

2006-10-31 Thread erwin
** The following ports have a version number that sorts before a previous one **

For many package tools to work correctly, it is of utmost importance that
version numbers of a port form a monotonic increasing sequence over time.
Refer to the FreeBSD Porter's Handbook, 'Package Naming Conventions' for
more information. Tools that won't work include pkg_version, portupgrade
and portaudit. A common error is an accidental deletion of PORTEPOCH.

Please fix any errors as soon as possible.

portupgrade: should it recursively follow dependencies?

2006-10-31 Thread James Long
I've rebuilt my pkgdb:

ns : 18:42:37 /root# pkgdb -fu
--- Updating the pkgdb
[Rebuilding the pkgdb format:bdb_btree in /var/db/pkg ... - 219 packages
found (-0 +219)
...
 done]

And I happen to know that devel/p5-Test-Exception is out of date.
This port is a dependency of a dependency of www/rt (3.4.5).

portupgrade sees that rt depends on p5-Test-WWW-Mechanize:

ns : 18:43:20 /root# portupgrade -nR rt 21 | grep p5-Test-WWW-Mechanize
** No need to upgrade 'p5-Test-WWW-Mechanize-1.08' (=
p5-Test-WWW-Mechanize-1.08). (specify -f to force)
- devel/p5-Test-WWW-Mechanize (p5-Test-WWW-Mechanize-1.08)

But it does not see that p5-Test-Exception is (by recursion) also
a dependency:

ns : 18:44:31 /root# portupgrade -nR rt 21 | grep p5-Test-Exception

If I portupgrade p5-Test-WWW-Mechanize, then p5-Test-Exception is
seen as in need of an upgrade:

ns : 18:45:32 /root# portupgrade -nR p5-Test-WWW-Mechanize 21 | grep
p5-Test-Exception
--- Upgrade of devel/p5-Test-Exception started at: Tue, 31 Oct 2006 18:46:11
-0800
--- Upgrading 'p5-Test-Exception-0.21_1' to 'p5-Test-Exception-0.22'
(devel/p5-Test-Exception)
--- Upgrade of devel/p5-Test-Exception ended at: Tue, 31 Oct 2006 18:46:11
-0800 (consumed 00:00:00)
+ devel/p5-Test-Exception (p5-Test-Exception-0.21_1)

Is this a problem or do I need adjust my expectations? :)

Portupgrade itself is portupgrade-2.1.3.3_1,2

ns : 18:55:00 /root# portupgrade -nR portupgrade

I can't build a whole bunch of them (everything depending on glib for
example) because devel/icu fails.

I'm just forwarding what Lukashev Anton replied to me:

The way solve this problem is to install new gcc (version 4.2)
and then in /etc/make.conf add the following:

 # for ICU
 CC=gcc42
 CXX=g++42

Perhaps this is not a very nice way, but it works on both i386 and amd64 ;)

 With best regards,
 Lukashev Anton

It works with gcc 4.1, too
