 Error: '/bin/bash' is an invalid shebang you need USES=shebangfix for
 'bin/argus-vmstat'

 I've never seen this before, so I had to do a little digging.
 Eventually I put this in the Makefile:

 USES=shebangfix
 SHEBANG_FILES=bin/argus-lsof bin/argus-vmstat

 Almost correct.

 Do I need a comma between the files?

No, but instead of giving their install location, you need to list the
files with the relative path into $WRKSRC after they've gotten unpacked.

LibreOffice 4.2.4 -- Has anyone figured out how to have this software NOT listen to the Internet?

2014-06-13 Thread sickofthis

Step 1:

$ libreoffice

Don't run it in the background -- otherwise you'll have to kill
the stuck process manually when you exit LibreOffice vs. the somewhat
more convenient CTRL+C for a foreground process (*shrug*).

Step 2:

Click on either Impress Presentation or Draw Drawing. Then wait
half a minute for the sub-app to open (*shrug*).

Step 3:

$ sockstat -46

You'll see TCP/1599 and UDP/1598 ports open to the Internet.

Apparently it's related to Impress Remote. Apparently there's
supposed to be some option called Enabled remote control that
controls this functionality, but I can't find it. In any event,
the functionality should NOT be enabled by default. Most people
don't expect a piece of office software to act as an Internet
daemon.

The open-source community has had over 20 years to get this very
basic best-practice stuff right, and it's still happening.
Unbelievable. The default behavior alone means I have absolutely
zero confidence that every piece of code accessible via the
open network ports handles allocated memory, numerical
manipulations, etc., properly.

Here's hoping your firewall handles state properly, especially
when it comes to UDP ports and your DNS servers.

makes it difficult to fix.

net-mgmt/net-snmp build error on 9.2

2014-06-13 Thread Chad J. Milios
I have pkg-1.2.7_3 installed and unused (FYI, I need pkg_tools support
on these systems and am not prepared to make the transition to pkgng
until sometime between now and the pkg_tools EOL). pkg-1.2.7_3 was
pulled in as a dependency for net-mgmt/net-snmp and pkg has no other
dependents on my system. Is there something special I need to do to get
this to work?

There is a comment in the makefile that pkg-1.2 cannot handle this
dependency well. So then why is the dependency placed on pkg and not
pkg-devel?

Thank you for any help you have to offer.

Right now you have no way but knowing that we take a snapshot of the ports tree
at 1am UTC every wednesday and build on it

I'll cron the svn update to coincide. That should make the race window
narrow enough to be mostly avoided.

With pkg 1.3 we will add some metadata to the repo specifying the revision used
We also to plan to add a ports package so pkg install ports will install the
ports tree used to build the packages

Oh nice! Exposing the revision number would be a really useful bit of
info. I could easily grab that and feed it to svn.

  If I use TeXLive, though, it gets past that point and then ends up with the

 I'll investigate this. But it will take time.

Error: '/bin/bash' is an invalid shebang you need USES=shebangfix for

I've never seen this before, so I had to do a little digging.
Eventually I put this in the Makefile:

USES=shebangfix
SHEBANG_FILES=bin/argus-lsof bin/argus-vmstat

Almost correct.

Do I need a comma between the files?

No, but instead of giving their install location, you need to list the
files with the relative path into $WRKSRC after they've gotten unpacked.

That *is* the relative path into WRKSRC.

I just gave up trying to figure it out and used REINPLACE instead.
