Hello,

working without any problems here too (amd64 / i386 FreeBSD 10.0 and 9.3).

Maybe start with the profilemanager and create a new profile - might be an
addon is broken.

Dealing with a port being merged into another

2014-10-23 Thread Raphael Kubo da Costa
Hi everyone,

One of the changes we (kde@) have made in the upcoming Qt 5.3.2 update
is merging devel/qt5-qmldevtools into lang/qt5-qml.

I'd now like to know what needs to be done to make it easy to everyone
to upgrade their ports. By everyone I mean people using pkg as well as
people using port{master, upgrade, whatnot}, and by make it easy I mean
I don't want to have to write an UPDATING entry (that many people will
not read) that tells people they need to manually remove qt5-qmldevtools
from their systems before upgrading.

Do I need CONFLICTS_INSTALL? Will everything be handled automatically?
Is the UPDATING entry inevitable?

FreeBSD ports you maintain which are out of date

2014-10-23 Thread portscout
Dear port maintainer,

The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your
ports appears to be out of date. Please take the opportunity to check
each of the ports listed below, and if possible and appropriate,
submit/commit an update. If any ports have already been updated, you can
safely ignore the entry.

You will not be e-mailed again for any of the port/version combinations
below.

Full details can be found at the following URL:
http://portscout.freebsd.org/po...@freebsd.org.html

Port| Current version | New version
+-+
deskutils/mirall| 1.6.3 | 1.6.4

+-+
mail/postfix210 | 2.10.5 | 2.11.2
+-+
security/doscan | 0.3.1 | 0.3.2

I had never before built the eclipse port on a -CURRENT machine, so I set up a
-CURRENT i386 VM in VirtualBox with 2Gb RAM, 30 GB disk space,
did a pkg install of eclipse 4.3.2_1 that currently is available (to get all
the build/run dependencies installed), and then did a make package of the
eclipse 4.3.2_2 in the ports tree. One hour later, I had a eclipse package
ready to install, no out of memory errors or any other problem.

From posts on the Eclipse Wiki's, building Eclipse with only 2Gb of RAM seems
 to
running pretty close to the lower limit needed. I have managed to build with
-Xmx1536m, but that's a low as I dare go; suggestions on the Eclipse Wiki for
building Eclipse 4.4 recommend setting -Xmx2560m.

I don't know anything about poudriere really, having never used it until my
attempt last week. Could the overhead of poudriere be taking away from the
memory space that would normally be available if one wasn't using it?

Hello,

Was meanwhile someone able to build java/eclipse on head in i386 *with*
poudriere?

Thx

pkg ABI empy

2014-10-23 Thread Willem Jan Withagen

Hi

I'm trying to run pkg update -F in a jail on a 8.4 host.
(8.4-STABLE FreeBSD 8.4-STABLE #222 r267755: Mon Jun 23 06:50:12 CEST 2014)

On the actual iron I get:
# pkg update -f
Updating FreeBSD repository catalogue...
Fetching meta.txz: 100% 968 B 1.0k/s00:01
Fetching digests.txz: 100%2 MB 2.0M/s00:01
Fetching packagesite.txz: 100%5 MB 5.3M/s00:01
Processing new repository entries: 100%

The jail bombs out with:
Updating FreeBSD repository catalogue...
pkg: http://pkg.FreeBSD.org//latest/meta.txz: Not Found
pkg: repository FreeBSD has no meta file, using default settings
pkg: http://pkg.FreeBSD.org//latest/digests.txz: Not Found

FreeBSD: {
  url: pkg+http://pkg.FreeBSD.org//latest;,
  mirror_type: srv,
  signature_type: fingerprints,
  fingerprints: /usr/share/keys/pkg,

So I conclude that the ABI env is empty.

Short term solution to hardwire the configfile in the jail.
But why is the ABI empy? jail and parent are running the smae software

I really don't know why it complains about memory; this machine has 32
GB RAM, and currently only 12.6 GB is used.

 but I would really;
 1. Seriously consider upgrading to 10.*

Testing of FreeBSD 10.* is ongoing; when I'm ready to switch is far
too early to say.

 2. Create poudriere jails for package upgrades (or just use the public
binaries) rather than relying on portmaster and such.

This sounds (I know that it might not be intended that way) like you
saying only poudriere jails are supported; portupgrade and portmaster
are not.

 3. Switch t o Linux-c6 rather than hanging around on Linux-f10

Well, you see, at this point in time, I'm in trouble solving mode. I'm
trying to get myself a working browser (currently using Opera,
workable in Gmail, unusable many other places) on my FreeBSD
workstation so that I can be a bit productive again.
So a suggestion to change a lot of things (linux- ports) sounds like
yes, let's change a lot of additional ports and increase the work
needed to test all this just now doesn't look like the smartest thing
I might do. If all else faiils (but why should it?) I might be forced
to try that as well.

Hi!

Please try removing firebird25-client before building it.
For some reason, it is linking with the old version.

There's a PR that discusses this issue (ports that require
their old version to be deinstalled before building the new version):

Re: www/linux-firefox package doesn't work

2014-10-23 Thread Beeblebrox
I'm going to answer in reverse!

Well, you see, at this point in time, I'm in trouble solving mode.
Do you have a spare HDD? Even old, out-dated or temporarily borrowed? Just hit
that spare HDD with 10.1, linux-c6 and whatever else as trial. Why? Because,
* new_xorg is now default in ports (you probably have old xorg)
* many previous make.conf settings are now out-dated and you need to review
/usr/ports/Mk/*. Sorry, just part of life.
* why www/linux-firefox instead of just plain www/firefox? Your question is by
default based on the perspective of older ports incompatibility work-arounds.
* desktop users must keep their systems much more current than server systems,
because the graphics environment improves at a much faster pace than
server-side.

This sounds (I know that it might not be intended that way) like you
saying only poudriere jails are supported; portupgrade and portmaster
 are not.
Your description is mostly true. pkgng is now the norm and
portupgrade/portmaster run into problems with higher versions. If you take the
leap to 10, make sure you understand pkgng repos or/and poudriere.

 tingo@kg-core1$ linux-firefox -safe-mode
firefox: Fatal IO error 12 (Cannot allocate memory) on X server :0.0.

I really don't know why it complains about memory; this machine has 32
GB RAM, and currently only 12.6 GB is used.

Had a similar (?) mmeory problem with all mozilla-based ports (but non linux-*):
http://freebsd.1045724.n5.nabble.com/shmget-No-space-left-on-device-issue-with-firefox-td5938162.html
The problem is cleared now and although not working perfectly, at least I have
some measure of sanity. The solution had nothing to do with memory, it was a
ports issue.

If a certified idiot like me has it working on 11, you can probably feel
confident about trying on 10.1

The forums are active again, so I'll see you around...

Doable, but akward:

Deinstallation has been requested for the following 3 packages (of 0

Installed packages to be REMOVED:
firebird25-client-2.5.2_2
qt4-ibase-plugin-4.8.6 (depends on firebird25-client-2.5.2_2)
qt4-4.8.6 (depends on firebird25-client-2.5.2_2)

The operation will free 10 MB.

Proceed with deinstalling packages? [y/N]: n

(is there a way of doing this without deinstalling ports that depend
on this paclage? I will be upgrading them next...)
Anyway, I removed firebird25-client and the two qt ports.

For some reason, it is linking with the old version.

Interesting. It makes you wonder why this situation wasn't detected
when the new version of the port was tested.
Perhaps port maintainers only test installing new ports (poudriere
jails?) and newer tests the upgrade scenario?

After removing the old client, the new one built and installed fine.
Thanks for helping out.

Does it show up in pkg info -l owncloud-csync? If you update your locate
