Do you have any older versions of llvm installed? OpenGL has issues if
anything older that llvm38 (maybe llvm39) is installed. "pkg delete -f
llvm3?" for each version prior to 3.9 installed. It is quite unlikely that
you will find any dependencies on the old versions. You can use "pkg info
-d llvm3?" to confirm. It is possible that some port or another might need
a re-install, but I have yet to see a report of this.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for replying. Unfortunately, no, I only have llvm39 installed.
That's not to say I haven't had other versions installed in the past. In
fact, I suspect that cleaning up my system is exactly what broke this.

Hans,

Thanks for replying and looking into this.

Unfortunately, there is no USB activity logged with the failing versions
- please see below.

In both cases, I start VirtualBox, then on the Device->USB menu I try to
tick Epson Scanner. On version 5.0.26, the box next to that menu item
appears ticked. On version 5.1.14, it doesn't. Trying to tick it again
gives the error message that I put in the PR.

Thanks again,

VirtualBox port not working with USB

2017-01-21 Thread Graham Menhennitt

G'day all,

About 6 months ago, the FreeBSD port of VirtualBox was upgraded from
version 5.0.26 to 5.1.4. The new version didn't work with USB devices
whereas the old one did. I raised PR
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=212845 at the time.
Since then, the port has followed the releases of VirtualBox up to
5.1.14 as of last week (thanks, jkim). However, the same USB problem has
existed for all that time.

I'm having a go at trying to fix it. But I know almost nothing about the
VirtualBox source code. So, I'd like some help please. Does anybody here
have any experience with this. Or any clues as to where I should start
looking.

At the moment I'm just trying to do diffs between the old and new
versions, but it's a fairly daunting task. I'm also going to try
building versions 5.0.32 and 5.1.0 (which never had FreeBSD ports) to
see whether the breakage was in between them (I presume that it was).

Thanks for any help,

Graham

Not sure what's going on with yours, but mine doesn't show any of those
symptoms. I build it regularly on a relatively low spec box (AMD G-T40E
Processor (1000.02-MHz K8-class CPU) with 4Gb RAM). Which version of
Ruby and which version of FreeBSD?

Cyrus is marked as automatic and I don't understand why that is. But
I've removed it as I only needed its libraries for Dovecot and, as you
pointed out, that isn't necessary any more.

All working!

2016-10-05 Thread Graham Menhennitt
Sorry, I just read that UPDATING entry again. Cyrus is only provided to
Dovecot if Postfix is present. I do not have Postfix present. So, I
think that I do need to install Cyrus explicitly.

So, back to my original question, why does "pkg autoremove" want to
uninstall Cyrus when I explicitly installed it from the port?

Thanks,
Graham

I didn't understand how I'd missed the fact that Dovecot now included
Cyrus. So I had a look at /usr/ports/UPDATING. Searching for Dovecot
shows a mention of it in the entry at 20160228. However, that's
entitled "AFFECTS: users of mail/postfix", and I don't use Postfix. I
think that Dovecot should have its own entry in UPDATING for that

Thanks for that Mathieu - I didn't know about that one.

However...

When I run it, it tells me that it's going to remove my cyrus-SASL

I installed that (via its port) so that I can use SSL/TLS

k3b can't find CD drive

2016-09-21 Thread Graham Menhennitt
Hi all,

I'm trying to write a CD using k3b. However, when it starts, it tells me
that it can't find a CD drive to work with. Dmesg shows:

cd0 at ata0 bus 0 scbus4 target 0 lun 0
cd0: Removable CD-ROM SCSI device
cd0: Serial Number NHDL064152WL
cd0: 150.000MB/s transfers (SATA, UDMA5, ATAPI 12bytes, PIO 8192bytes)
cd0: 0MB (1 2048 byte sectors)

but also has lots of error messages:

(cd0:ata0:0:0:0): READ(10). CDB: 28 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 00
(cd0:ata0:0:0:0): CAM status: SCSI Status Error
(cd0:ata0:0:0:0): SCSI status: Check Condition
(cd0:ata0:0:0:0): SCSI sense: BLANK CHECK asc:0,0 (No additional
sense information)
(cd0:ata0:0:0:0): Error 28, Unretryable error
(cd0:ata0:0:0:0): cddone: got error 0x1c back

I've followed all the instructions in the port's pkg-message except I
get an error when setting the sysctl:

sysctl hw.ata.atapi_dma=1
sysctl: unknown oid 'hw.ata.atapi_dma'

I think I've got all the correct things in my kernel: pass, scb, cd. I'm
I'm pretty sure it's not a permissions problem as it happens when I run
k3b as root too.

This is on a recent 11-stable AMD64 with up to date ports.

Thanks for any help,

Graham

I've waited for an hour in case it was just taking a long time to

This is on FreeBSD 11-Stable (as of today) AMD64, and ports updated as
of today. And I build the kmod with the current kernel source in place.

Does anybody have any clues, please?

Thanks,
Graham

You appear not to have lang/clang36 installed. I don't know why
portupgrade isn't installing it since it is a BUILD_DEPEND of
graphics/dri, but installing it by hand should work around the problem.

Indeed, it does fix it. Thanks for your help.

portupgrade fails possibly due to py27-asn1 rename to py-pyasn1

2016-01-05 Thread Graham Menhennitt
Hi all,

I updated my ports collection the other day and ran portupgrade. It
fails on the devel/py-pyasn1 port with the error:

===>  Installing for py27-pyasn1-0.1.9
===>   py27-pyasn1-0.1.9 depends on package: py27-setuptools27>0 - found
===>   py27-pyasn1-0.1.9 depends on file: /usr/local/bin/python2.7 - found
===> Checking if py27-pyasn1 already installed
===> Registering installation for py27-pyasn1-0.1.9 as automatic
Installing py27-pyasn1-0.1.9...
pkg-static: py27-pyasn1-0.1.9 conflicts with py27-asn1-0.1.8,1 (installs
files into the same place). Problematic file:
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/pyasn1/__init__.py
*** Error code 70

Stop.

I suspect it's because this port was recently renamed from
devel/py27-asn1 (see
https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=204567). I can't see
any message in UPDATING that's relevant.

Any clues please?

Thanks,
Graham
