No, pkgng integrates perfectly with Ports.  I have WITH_PKGNG=yes on 
almost all of my systems.  I was following up about the package repo, 
which is still empty.  I do like the speed increase of pkg-version over 
pkg_version.


What can the lowly sysadmin do to speed up getting the pkgng package repo?

Probably, the repository is pkgbeta.freebsd.org currently.
You just type `pkg` before installing pkg from ports pkg bootstrap 
runs.
If you install pkg in this way, 'pkgbeta.freebsd.org' is written in 
pkg.conf .

Setting up a new server tonight, decided to do it up with pkgng from the 
start:


1. portsnapped a tree
2. installed pkg just fine from ports
3. added WITH_PKGNG=yes to /etc/make.conf
4. cp /usr/local/etc/pkg.conf.sample /usr/local/etc/pkg.conf

Then it broke:

# pkg update
Updating repository catalogue
pkg: http://pkg.freebsd.org/freebsd:9:x86:64/latest/repo.txz: No address 
record
