reboot on problem
Hi ! I am running FreeBSD as server. Thing is working great, there is only one problem. Sometimes machine looses connection to internet... Which is quite a problem, since this computer is on remote location, which I only access once a week or less. I would need application (or something), which would check if computer can connect to gateway, in case that it can it would do nothing, but in case it can't it would make soft reboot... Is there anything that I could achive this with? Any idea is welcome... Please cc: message to my private address (reply all should do this) Thanks in advance Andy ___ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
Weird problem with midnight commander (Freebsd 5.3)
Hi ! I am having weird problem. I have installed FreeBSD 5.3 on several machines, and on two of those machines midnight commander has serious problems. When I run it, it needs a long time to start, and I mean long, about 5 minutes or so. Did anybody have a same problem? How did you fix it. Oh one of those machines was fresh install, and other was update... Network problem after upgrade from 5.1 to 5.3
Hi ! I am long time user of FreeBSD and for must updates so far I hadn't had much to do (maybe option here and option there, but networking never changes), but after upgrade from 5.1 to 5.3 everything stoped working. Since I couldn't rebuild kernel (some internal problems), I decided to delete everything and reinstal from scratch (last time I did this was when disk crashed, and that was about 5 years ago). But now again nothing works. I didn't change any configuration files since instalation except, rc.conf, and copied my firewall.conf and natd.conf... Even after recompiled I couldn't use network. My FreeBSD is used as server and also router for my internal network (using NAT). Problem: == If I disable firewall, natd is turned down so inside computers can't get to internet through FreeBSD box, if enabled, then nothing works. It seems like small trouble in Firewall, but I don't know why. I usually didn't make any changes to firewall since I am not guru there... Config: = FreeBSD BOX-> dc0: external IP | V rl0: internal IP 192.168.44.1 -> Hub I was using NATD and firewall (I have my own rules for both and everything worked before), I have compiled IPDIVERT and IPFIREWALL into kernel. Problem with ncurses install
Hi ! Some time ago I did little experimenting on my FreeBSD box (I was trying to compile some programs and I installed new version of ceratain auto* and other programs) so after that I couldn't usee gcc anymore. I reinstalled gcc and some other tools, but now ncurses is of some older version. I tried to reinstall ncurses and I succeed, but from is that dynamic library libncurses.so.5 is not reinstalled along with other programs, which means that most of software on my computer is now unusable... How can I force ncurses to install dynamic library (I run install from contrib directory)... Please help Andy P.S.: You can imagine that I can't do even build world, since install fails because of some unrecognized symbols in ncurses.so.5 (I have still the old version, which doesn't work) ****** * Aleksander Rozman - Andy * Fandoms: E2:EA, SAABer, Trekkie, Earthie * * [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Sentinel, BH 90210, True's Trooper, * *[EMAIL PROTECTED] * Heller's Angel, Questie, Legacy, PO5, * * Maribor, Slovenia (Europe) * Profiler, Buffy (Slayerete), Pretender* * ICQ-UIC: 4911125 * * PGP key available *http://www.atechnet.dhs.org/~andy/ * ** ___ [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
php5 compile fail
Hi ! I am having weird problem. I tried to install php5 but it seems that FreeBSD has some stuff missing. In resolv.h, we are mising 4 aliases res_ninit, res_nmkquery, res_nsend, res_nclose. I was working with some people on php site, to disover why my compile fails and we came to this conclusion, that FreeBSD is missing this aliases. Did anybody else have the same problem? How did you solve it? Console resolution
Hi ! I have just installed FreeBSD onto my notebook. I am using FreeBSD for quite some time, and now I decided to install it on my notebook (I got tired of both RedHat and Windows 2000, which both didn't work as they should (I had both installed on same computer)) and remove everything else from it. Problem is that this notebok Toshiba, has *very* ugly system font. On RedHat I solved this problem, by giving higher resolution to text mode (which I what I would like to do here). I am wondering if this is also possible on freebsd. I use text mode a lot, so this is quite important, I use Xwindows only if I must... Take care.
