linux-flashplugin7 security issue

2007-07-30 Thread Anton Galitch
Good day.
Well I wanted to install linux-flashplugin7 but it says that it has a
critical vulnerability:

# make install clean
===  linux-flashplugin-7.0r69 has known vulnerabilities:
= linux-flashplugin -- critical vulnerabilities.
   Reference:
http://www.FreeBSD.org/ports/portaudit/b42e8c32-34f6-11dc-9bc9-001921ab2fa4.html

= Please update your ports tree and try again.
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/www/linux-flashplugin7.

I updated the ports with portsnap fetch/extract/update but it still says the
same. I suppose there is no fixed version yet? or there is any way to
install the fixed version?
Thanks.

What is X Error of failed request?

2007-07-11 Thread Anton Galitch

Hi, I have just installed /usr/ports/games/flightgear, it installed fine,
but when I execute it, it shows a window starts loading, and then, craches
:S
This is what I get from the console:

%fgfs
Error reading properties:
Failed to open file
at /home/anton/.fgfs/autosave.xml
(reported by SimGear XML Parser)
X Error of failed request: BadLength (poly request too large or internal
Xlib length error)
Major opcode of failed request: 146 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 29 ()
Serial number of failed request: 863
Current serial number in output stream: 863
%

I searched in google for this error, but got nothing.
Maybe you know what can produce this error.
Thanks.

Hi.

I tried flash9 and flash7, the flash9 just crashes, and flash7 shows a grey
square in the place where the flash application should be showed. I tried
both, linux-firefox, and nspluginwrapper methods, it shows the same grey
square. Any idea of what could it be??

Hi.
I know there are a lot of topics about ntfs in fbsd, but I couldnt find any
about using /usr/ports/sysutils/ntfsprogs in fbsd to have write support.
I installed this port, and I think I should mount my ntfs partition with
ntfsmount command, but I cant find this binary :\. Where could it be??

The ntfs-3g driver is an open source, freely available read/write NTFS
driver, which provides safe and fast handling of the Windows XP, Windows

Server 2003 and Windows 2000 filesystems. Almost the full POSIX filesystem
functionality is supported, the major exceptions are changing the file
ownerships and the access rights.

I have a problem when I compile /usr/ports/x11/xorg, when I make install it

shows the following error:

configure: error: cannot find GL library - make sure Mesa or other
OpenGL package is installed
See `config.log' for more details.

I have installed libGL and libGLU but it shows the same error.

I attach my config.log file and the output of ls /var/db/pkg

Ok, now I have installed xorg successfully, and updated all the ports, but
it has the could not open default font 'fixed' problem.
I looked for the solution in google, but what I found didnt help, I tried to
reinstall font-misc-misc and font-cursor-misc, reinstall nvidia-driver (dont
know what for, but anyway). I created new xorg.conf with X -configure, but
nothing helped. Is there any other method I could try?

Hi Anton,
are you upgrading xorg or installing xorg for the first time in this
machine?

you have to follow the steps in /usr/ports/UPDATING, even if not
upgrading.

problem installing xorg 7.2

2007-06-02 Thread Anton Galitch

Hi
Because I wanted to upgrade my xorg package to 7.2, I read
/usr/ports/UPDATING. but the description is only for portupgrade, and I dont
use it because it works bad on my system, I use portmanager insteed.
I couldnt upgrade xorg with portmanager so I just deinstalled it, and make
install again.

Thats the message that throws make install:

configure: error: cannot find GL library - make sure Mesa or other
OpenGL packag
e is installed
See `config.log' for more details.
===  Script configure failed unexpectedly.

But when I cd ed to /usr/ports/graphics/mesagl make install, it throws
another message:

=== Mesa-5.0.2 is unnecessary because libGL and libGLU come with
XFree86 4.0 a
nd higher.
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/graphics/mesagl.

So what should I do??
Is there any way of installing xorg 7.2 just with make install ??
Thanks for any help.

Anyone could make Epson Stylus cx4700 work?

Well, I did this and now the permissions look like this:

and if I execute the program being in my user it tells permission denied.

Another problem is that when I executed it in root, it showed

#escputil -iur /dev/ulpt0

Cannot open /dev/ulpt0 read/write: Device busy

There is no printing job, and in the control panel in kde I can see that

Re: Anyone could make Epson Stylus cx4700 work?

Yes, because escputil belongs to the 'usb' group. It should belong to the
same group as /dev/ulpt0, which should be 'cups'.

A 'chown :cups escputil' should fix that.

Thanks a lot it worked.

to check the ink level requires using a raw device so the -r option must be
there. I tried to do it without -u but it still saying Cannot open
/dev/ulpt0 read/write: Device busy
maybe there is another way to know the ink level? I checked the cups page
localhost:631 but found nothing there.
