garbage string as cpu identifier

2004-03-09 Thread Doom Neine
hello all,
doug white pointed out that my cpu string being garbaged was interesting, i noticed it
but i didn't think it was a big deal.

Timecounter i8254 frequency 1193182 Hz quality 0

CPU: [EMAIL PROTECTED]I\M-h)Hr\M-)[EMAIL PROTECTED]@\M-E\^Hs\M-!\M-C\M-h%
(1833.14-MHz 686-class CPU)

Origin = AuthenticAMD Id = 0x6a0 Stepping = 0

Features=0x383fbffFPU,VME,DE,PSE,TSC,MSR,PAE,MCE,CX8,APIC,SEP,MTRR,PGE,MCA,CMOV,PAT,PSE36,MMX,FXSR,SSE

AMD Features=0xc040AMIE,DSP,3DNow!

anyway as far as i can tell it's always been this way ever since 5.1 - i never ran
stable on this box so i'm not sure if it's current problem or both current and stable
or just my hardware - now i'm running an install world of 5.2.1 from around
so if anyone's interested i'd be willing to try stable on it and let you guys know how
it goes - or if anyone knows any fixes for it or has come across it before i'd
appreciate any help
i tried the aimgroups mailing list archive and couldn't get much about this type of
problem

thanks

2004-03-06 Thread Doom Neine

i have a stripped array setup and i suspect that one
of the drives is having a problem, so i wanted to know
if there was a way in bsd to repartition the system
and move all data to one disk so i can take out the
other one

  Hello,
I'm trying to install bittorrent on a FreeBSD 5.2
release , i have not updated the source tree or
rebuilt world or anything. but it won't work i
 kept
getting errors. so just to try to figure out where
 the
problem was i tried to install the
 py-bittorrent-core
port and it installed fine. i tracked the problem
 to
this port x11-toolkits/tk84. so i updated the
portsfile and used portupgrade to install 8.4.5,1.
however it still does not work. i'm copying the
 errors
i get to the rest of this message. please let me
 know
how i can resolve this situation.

Unless you insist on using the gui (say
 btdownloadgui), you could
 install net/py-bittorrent-core which is much
 smaller. Just
that you have to run stuff from a terminal/xterm.

Thank you for the help, i don't really insist on using
the gui version, it's just that i was a bit resistant
because the bittorrent-core port doesn't have much
documentation - but i am trying it out as we speak and
things seem to be fine - again thanks
