VESA support on IBM ThinkPad A21m

2002-12-15 Thread Hongbo Li
I used a laptop(IBM ThinkPad A21m,ATI Mobile p video
card),with the FreeBSD 5.0-current installed.
I added the follow line to the kernel config file:

options VESA
options SC_PIXEL_MODE

After rebooting the laptop with the new kernel, to
alter the revolution, I tried to use the follow
command : vidcontrol -g 100x37 VESA_800x600 . I got
some error:
vidcontrol: cannot activate raster display:Operation
no supported by device

How to fix this problem?

upgrading problem

2002-10-21 Thread Hongbo Li
I have upgraded my box from 4.6-stable to 4.7-stable
today. Everything seemed OK. When I ran the command
"uname -a",the system reported "...4.7-stable...". But
when I ran the command "man cat", at the end of the
manual, the system reported "FreeBSD 4.6". Why? BTW,
the option my cvsup file used was "src-all".
