Re: [URGENT] Bad MX record; very bad.
Hello! Thank you for your help. I've found out it's the reverse on my IP sending my e-mails to my old and non-existing IP. I am a bit curious about this however: # NS FAIL Lame nameservers ERROR: You have one or more lame nameservers. These are nameservers that do NOT answer authoritatively for your domain. This is bad; for example, these nameservers may never get updated. The following nameservers are lame: 213.187.181.68 # It would have been OK if it were my ns2 that was lame---it's not set up yet and therefore is not authoritatively for my domain. But my own IP? DNS: Wrong IP:s on GTLD servers
Hello. I have a DNS problem. I just got a new block of IP:s and I need to update the IP:s in the GTLD servers. I take it this is normally done through the domain name registrar, but in my case they only allow hostnames to be entered as nameservers and not IP:s (godaddy.com). http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=terrabionic.com I see NS1 still has my old IP and NS2 still has the IP to my old secondary. Goofy BIND8 and domain registrant
Hi. My DNS server is secondary DNS to probsd.net (209.98.239.41) and vice versa. My ns2 is no longer skylab.no (217.8.139.93), but the GTLD servers doesn't seem to understand that. I recently re-registered the ns2 at my domain name registrant (www.godaddy.com), and since you couldn't insert an IP anywhere I replaced ns2.terrabionic.com with some temporary host and inserted it back once the update had been made to ensure that it got angstlos.probsd.net's IP. After analyzing my setup at: http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=terrabionic.com it was obvious that 217.8.139.93 was still glued to the GTLD servers even though dig told me otherwise. Also, relay access for postmaster and [EMAIL PROTECTED] seems to be denied. I just issued a newaliases with a working /etc/aliases file, but to no good. All my setup is available through http://www.terrabionic.com/namedb Though I can't see anything wrong, perhaps you can. Hi. You are a true genious. It is like I've found something I've been looking for all my life. And for that I am grateful. This sure beats the RCS-only method with tons of RCS directories spread across the system with little or no control. If I get this right, critical will copy the listed files into its location and manage them from there? Simply put. I haven't tested it yet as: ::: janine[aegis] [~/cvs] % ./critical [19:54] ./critical: Command not found. I made the file executeable, and tried installing ksh, obviously to no good. What do I do to get going? By the way, how do you create those fancy directory listings? I have to say I loved them. It seems to me you're quite taken with systemized neat design as I am. Keep up the good work. Let me know what other goodies you have, except the ones available at your site. That'd be great! I'm running NAT, and have forwarded these ports to Ninja from my Cisco 677i-DIR ADSL-router/modem: # NAT > - > | Name: Router (CBOS) IP: 217.13.29.51 | v Name: Ninja (FreeBSD) IP: 192.168.187.1 | v Name: Aegis (FreeBSD) IP: 192.168.187.2 ROUTER > - > | set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 1024-5000 0.0.0.0 1024-5000 tcp set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 31337 0.0.0.0 31337 tcp RESULT > - > | lftp [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> ls Connecting to ninja.terrabionic.com (217.13.29.51) port 31337 Socket error (Connection timed out) - reconnecting # NAT, it seems, has really made networking a lot harder for me than what I deserve. I hope somebody understands my situation and are able to give useful replies. Because of NAT?
Hi. My network is like this: Name: Cisco 677i-DIR (ADSL-router/modem) IP: 217.13.29.51 | v Name: Ninja (FreeBSD) IP: 192.168.187.1 | v Name: Aegis (FreeBSD) IP: 192.168.187.2 The Cisco router runs CBOS and apparently NAT. I have forwarded these ports to Ninja. The address 10.0.0.2 (somehow it has to be that address) goes to Ninja's lnc0. set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 22 0.0.0.0 22 tcp set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 25 0.0.0.0 25 tcp set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 80 0.0.0.0 80 tcp set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 53 0.0.0.0 53 tcp set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 113 0.0.0.0 113 tcp set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 1024-5000 0.0.0.0 1024-5000 tcp set nat entry add 10.0.0.2 31337 0.0.0.0 31337 tcp This should cover most things, shouldn't it? However I'm concerned the use of NAT on my router and boxes has stirred shit up. For instance, I can only connect to my OpenFTPD (on 31337) site locally. Connecting remotely gives me: lftp [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~> ls Connecting to ninja.terrabionic.com (217.13.29.51) port 31337 Socket error (Connection timed out) - reconnecting Also I've been hearing people not getting ident requests from me. This can not be a BIND issue can it? I find it odd why my hostname sometimes doesn't resolve on EFNet, but on all the other networks I'm on. NAT, it seems, has really made networking a lot harder for me than what I deserve. I hope somebody understands my situation and are able to give useful replies. named rejecting all kinds of serials
hi. Sep 28 13:22:50 ninja named[87]: master zone "terrabionic.com" (IN) rejected due to errors (serial 2002092801) now, isn't this the valid serial for today? i've tried all kinds of dates; past, current and future. with zero, one and two digits in the last field. this is quite annoying as everything on my system depends on terrabionic.com being functional. thanks. --janine To Unsubscribe: send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
Re: PostNuke running slow on FreeBSD
Hey! The reason I were using IPv6 support was so I could be ready for the future. Silly, huh? I'm now running the normal version. The only thing I can seem to find out is the output of /var/db/mysql/ninja.err: 020926 17:37:09 mysqld started 020926 17:37:10 Warning: setrlimit returned ok, but didn't change limits. Max open files is 496 020926 17:37:11 Warning: Changed limits: max_connections: 100 table_cache: 193 Cannot initialize InnoDB as 'innodb_data_file_path' is not set. If you do not want to use transactional InnoDB tables, add a line skip-innodb to the [mysqld] section of init parameters in your my.cnf or my.ini. If you want to use InnoDB tables, add for example, innodb_data_file_path = ibdata1:30M But to get good performance you should adjust for your hardware the InnoDB startup options listed in section 2 at http://www.innodb.com/ibman.html /usr/local/libexec/mysqld: ready for connections I haven't tried the --with-log function yet. The rest of your suggestions were really helpful, though they didn't tell me much. Got any other ideas? Could it be my uptime? PostNuke running slow on FreeBSD
Hi. I'm running PostNuke 0.72, Apache+IPv6 1.3.26, MySQL 3.23.49 and mod_php4 4.2.3. My machine is a Pentium 120 with 16 MB RAM, so I don't expect much from it. However I would expect it to take less than 15-20 minutes to serve me a website, in this case PostNuke (http://www.terrabionic.com/nma). I do not know what it is, nor does the PostNuke community. The installation went fair and fast enough. Once it was complete and I wanted to access it, I had to wait 16 minutes for just the topic to appear. /var/log/messages doesn't tell me much. Nor does these: > tail /var/log/httpd-error.log [Wed Sep 25 20:37:46 2002] [error] [client :::217.84.209.13] File does not exist: /usr/local/www/data/msadc/..%5c../..%5c../..%5c/..Á../..Á../..Á../winnt/system32/cmd.exe [Wed Sep 25 20:37:47 2002] [error] [client :::217.84.209.13] File does not exist: /usr/local/www/data/scripts/..Á../winnt/system32/cmd.exe [Wed Sep 25 20:37:49 2002] [error] [client :::217.84.209.13] File does not exist: /usr/local/www/data/scripts/..À¯../winnt/system32/cmd.exe [Wed Sep 25 20:37:49 2002] [error] [client :::217.84.209.13] File does not exist: /usr/local/www/data/scripts/..Á../winnt/system32/cmd.exe [Wed Sep 25 20:37:55 2002] [error] [client :::217.84.209.13] File does not exist: /usr/local/www/data/scripts/..%5c../winnt/system32/cmd.exe [Wed Sep 25 20:37:55 2002] [error] [client :::217.84.209.13] File does not exist: /usr/local/www/data/scripts/..%2f../winnt/system32/cmd.exe [Wed Sep 25 21:13:43 2002] [error] [client :::195.159.0.90] File does not exist: /usr/local/www/data// [Thu Sep 26 10:58:14 2002] [error] [client :::64.68.82.5] File does not exist: /usr/local/www/data/robots.txt [Thu Sep 26 11:06:28 2002] [error] [client :::64.68.82.72] File does not exist: /usr/local/www/data/robots.txt [Thu Sep 26 12:34:17 2002] [error] [client :::195.159.0.90] File does not exist: /usr/local/www/data// > tail /var/db/mysql/ninja.err Cannot initialize InnoDB as 'innodb_data_file_path' is not set. Lagged behavior by Postnuke. Offtopic? No.
Hi. I'm running FreeBSD 4.6-STABLE with Apache+IPv6 1.3.26 and mod_php4-4.2.3. I recently installed PostNuke into http://www.terrabionic.com/nma, but when it takes about 15 minutes to load I'm getting the feeling something is wrong. Could it be Apache, PHP, MySQL or FreeBSD? The PostNuke community doesn't seem to be familiar with this problem, which is why I brought the issue into a FreeBSD mailinglist. I'm open for suggestions. Thanks. --janine To Unsubscribe: send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message

user.mydomain.com
how is this created when adding a new user? are there any adduser scripts out there doing this automaticly as well as a .htdocs instead of enteruser's public_html? thanks. --janine To Unsubscribe: send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
user organizer / decent adduser script
hi. is there some tool that organizes a systems users and their uids? and perhaps updates all files belonging to a user with his/hers new user settings? also, what about a decent adduser script? enteruser complains about my `ninja' class which i've set up in login.conf and as default class in pw.conf. also it doesn't seem to make any use of my defaultshell set to tcsh. after a while the directory listing of my /var/mail looks like this: total 14 -rw--- 1 iyun mail 584 Sep 7 13:44 alliance -rw--- 1 power1006 574 Jun 22 12:49 gunn -rw--- 1 1011 ninja 594 Aug 27 19:55 iyun -rw--- 1 sharizan postfix 0 Jun 22 11:41 jasmin -rw--- 1 janine mail 1470 Sep 17 14:05 janine -rw--- 1 postfix 10060 Jun 14 01:00 nughaud -rw--- 1 pgsqlpgsql 0 Sep 6 00:03 pgsql -rw--- 1 thug ninja 575 Jun 21 21:08 power -rw--- 1 jasmin ninja 590 Jun 13 16:25 sharizan -rw--- 1 postfix postfix 578 Jun 21 21:08 thug now, this is all a mess. i'm tired of manual cleanups. any ideas people? thanks. -- janine To Unsubscribe: send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
