dns update for 7.0

2008-07-10 Thread Joshua Frugé
I just joined the list (but did search the archive), so I apologize in
advance if this was already answered and I missed it.

What's the process to update the base bind in freebsd for the new
cacheing poisoning vuln that seems to be all the rage lately?

I'm running freebsd 7.0-RELEASE-p2 and I am using the included base
bind 9.4.2 as resolver for my network. Will there be an update
through freebsd-update to upgrade to bind 9.4.2-p1, or is there some
other process I need to followcompile source and replace?.

Thanks,

usb keyboard on dell precision 690

2007-06-05 Thread Joshua Frugé

Trying to install freebsd6.2 using a usb keyboard on a dell precision 690.
When I get into sysinstall the keyboard no longer works. Did some
googling... there is no option in the bios for legacy usb keyboard or
anything like that, unplugging and replugging/rearranging usb devices did
not work, and entering set hint.atkbd.0.disabled=1 in the loader prompt
does not work. I believe the issue to be that a false non usb keyboard is
detected, as the loading messages display an at keyboard device. Any idea
on how I can install freebsd 6.2(amd64) with a usb keyboard?

Thanks,
Joshua

 All,

Sorry if this is the wrong list, but this is the most basic of questions:
Can someone help me get a software package up and running?

The package: http://www.openemm.org/wiki/OpenEMM_Wiki_Home (these are the
installation instructions for Linux systems - I know others have gotten
the package running on FreeBSD, but there are no specific installation
 instructions for that platform).

 What I provide:

 * A brand-spankin'-new FreeBSD 6.2 install
 * SSH access (you may have to talk me through correct config - it was
(strangely!) not working after base install)
 * A donation to FreeBSD or payment directly to you - your choice!

 What you provide:

 * Installation of the OpenEMM package
 * A few tests to make sure it works
 * An email address where I can PayPal your payment to

If interested, drop me a note directly (I'm not subscribed to the list),
along with an estimate of the cost and when you can get started. Some idea
of your experience (even a reference or two) would be grand as well.

 Many thanks,
 Greg Brooks

Re: compiling postgresql with tsearch2

2007-01-24 Thread Joshua Frugé
go to
/usr/ports/databases/postgresql81-server/work/postgresql-8.1.6/contrib/tsearch2

in here you can do a gmake and a make install I think

then
psql wikidb tsearch2.sql -U wikiuser

or something along those lines...

 Hi,

I am looking for a postgresql installation with the tsearch2 module.
I require the tsearch2 module for mediawiki. When I install the mediawiki,
it tells me my postgresql server does not have the tsearch2 module loaded.

I installed postgresql 8.1-server from the ports. The tsearch2 code is
available in one of its subdirectories, but I don't know how I can get that
 compiled as a module.

I am new to FreeBSD, and thus new to the ports, so not having to ./configure
 --myoptions is new to me.
 Sofar I like it though.
So, should I compile it afterwards or should I change something in some
 configure file?

What I could find on the net is that I should compile tsearch2 from its own
directory afterwards, but that is on linux.

 Thanks,

 Warren

Hello,

I am running freebsd 6.1 (amd64) on an ibm x260 and getting these
errors:

dmesg:
g_vfs_done():aacd0s1a[WRITE(offset=16567468032, length=16384)]error = 5
aacd0: hard error cmd=write 1673028351-1673028382

and in messages :

Nov 12 23:59:34 nms kernel: aac0: COMMAND 0x8bd3b2c0 TIMEOUT
AFTER 50209 SECONDS
Nov 12 23:59:54 nms kernel: aac0: COMMAND 0x8bd3b2c0 TIMEOUT
AFTER 50229 SECONDS

The system will lock, and require a manual reboot.

Has anyone run into this before, or can point me in the right direction
to look for answers?

Thanks,
