 hi all

I'm making some changes to my home network and my BSD 5.2.1 box is going
to act as a gateway/firewall I would like to add a wireless card to give
my Linux laptop access to the net in any room.

Dose anyone have any recommendations as to which cards are supported?
also are they supported out of the box or will i need to do any kernel
 tweaking?

 Thanks in advance

konqueror not responding

2004-07-31 Thread Manuel Astudillo
Hi,

something weird happen to the settings of Konqueror in kde 3.2.3 and everytime
I try to access to a web page on the internet the browser freezes.
If I try to open local webpages or just use konqueror to browse in my
filesystem everything works just ok.
If I login using other user then it also works perfectly, so I suspect there
is something corrupted in the config files on my current user. Is there any
way to remove all the config files and start konqueror from scratch? I
already tried in ~/.kde and deleted konquerorrc but it does not help.

regards,

Manuel Astudillo.

I can't get kdebase to install.
This is a new FreeBSD build from Mini ISO. kde has not been installed on
 here before.
I first installed evolution. Now KDE.
 I've tried building from ports.
I've deleted the work/ directory and tried again.
I've deleted the kdebase directory and cvsupped the latest ports.
 Still can't build it.

Did you try to add it as a binary package?
sh# setenv PACKAGESITE
sh# pkg_add -r kdebase

Bug in nameserver specification 5.2.1 RC1

2004-02-15 Thread Manuel Astudillo
Hi,

I just installed freebsd 5.2.1 RC1 and after configuring the network
with sysintall I notived that the ip to the nameserver is not correctly
set up. Running nslookup it keep me saying that the nameserver I use is
the same as the name of my machine, but If I go to the sysinstall
network configuration application it shows me the correct nameserver,
whats going on?

regards,

Manuel.

Uppgrading from 5.1 to 5.2

2004-02-08 Thread Manuel Astudillo
Hi,

I tried to uppgrade from freeBSD 5.1 to 5.2. Everything seemed to go ok.
I followed all the steps in the manual and I couldnt see any errors.
After reinstalling the new kernel I rebooted and everything seemed also
ok until the system tried to mount the hardisk. It just get stuck there
without giving any errors or anything...

I tried to fix the problem rebooting with a live cd, but everything
seemed just ok. /etc/fstab looks as it should and I can mount the
partitions manually.

Could someone please give me some direction about what to do next?

thanks,

Manuel Astudillo.
