FreeBSD 8 portinstall gnome2 failure

2009-12-04 Thread Roy Stuivenberg
Hello, BSD friends,

After installing FreeBSD 8 (successful),
I was unable to install gnome2. (from ports)

Error was : I0 Error: [Errno 28] No space left on device.
gmake [2] : *** [Gtk-2.0.gir] Error 1

I did found out, I had to empty .cache in root dir
about 5/6 times though.
When the install was complete, my log onscreen was unable to enter
Username/Password, so all the work did not bring me complete happiness.

Did anybody have these problems too ?
Help appreciated ;)

Regards,

This is the output building gnome2 :
gnomelogalyzer said something like no problem found.

Please run the gnomelogalyzer, available from

FreeBSD 7.2-stable amd64 / Gnome2

2009-10-06 Thread Roy Stuivenberg
Hello,

I have a question about my Gnome2 install.
It stopped when it was installing Alacarte.
Error was : wrong pygobject version.
After that, I restarted, and x11 came up surprisingly.
My portstree is up to date, and googl'in I found similar problems.
Anyone know if there is a problem with FreeBSD 7.2 (amd64) and gnome2 ?

This problem didn't occur with FreeBSD 7.2 i386 iso.

Roy Stuivenberg.

Hello,

I get this error when I try to make buildkernel, with device snd_hda for

npviewer.bin

2009-07-09 Thread Roy Stuivenberg
Hello,

For a while I'm facing this Issue: Firefox seems to hang, and when I
look with the command TOP is see npviewer.bin a few times.
My processor makes a lot of noise, and after : pkill npviewer.bin, it
stops for a while.
Laterly I notice the return of npviewer.bin again, so the pkill is not
even working anymore.
Hopefully there is a better salutation then pkill ??

New Flash9 Issue?

2009-04-07 Thread Roy Stuivenberg
Hello,

I upgraded xorg-server to 1.6.
In upgrading if found to < portupgrade -rf libxcb >
this took all night and day, so I thought why not rebuild everything,
and so I did. (stable 7.1/prerelease 7.2)
Everything went good, except for the Flash9 I found some time ago
on the internet, and now I get this error.
Step 1, discribes the manual to add Flash9.
Anyone encountered this problem yet?
Regards,
Roy.

Step 1: Enable Linux compatibility and linprocfs

Add linux_enable="YES" to /etc/rc.conf. Add
compat.linux.osrelease=2.6.16 to /etc/sysctl.conf. Add
OVERRIDE_LINUX_BASE_PORT=f8 to /etc/make.conf. Add this line
to /etc/fstab:

linproc /usr/compat/linux/proc linprocfs rw 0 0

Then run these commands:

mkdir -p /usr/compat/linux/proc
mount /usr/compat/linux/proc
/etc/rc.d/abi start
/etc/rc.d/sysctl start

Step 2: Update ports and install all the needed software

You will now need to install the following ports and their dependencies:

cd /usr/ports/emulators/linux_base-f8 && make install clean
cd /usr/ports/www/linux-flashplugin9 && make install clean
cd /usr/ports/www/nspluginwrapper && make install clean

Follow the nspluginwrapper instructions to enable all available plugins:

# nspluginwrapper -v -a -i

Re: freebsd-questions Digest, Vol 252, Issue 11

2009-03-28 Thread Roy Stuivenberg
Hello :)
Thank you very much!
I added the line in ipfw script, loaded the script,
and was able to send the email with attachment.
Then tried again without the line > $cmd 00151 allow icmp from any to
any icmptypes 3 (after reboot) and it didn't send the email.
So including the line did the trick .. Thanks & Bravo!

Roy.

Problem with Gmail/Evolution and IPFW

2009-03-27 Thread Roy Stuivenberg
Hello,

I'm having a problem with Gmail and IPFW.
Gmail is configured in Evolution.

When I can't send mail (with attachment), I
have to disable IPFW, and at that point I'm able to send mail.
After that I enable IPFW ,and try to send the same mail again,
i'm still able to send the mail.
Only after restart it's again not working.
Gmail is configured as I think it should :
imap - server imap.gmail.com:993 SSL
smtp - server smtp.gmail.com:587 TLS
Also Evolution is very slow, seems to hang when I'm typing a message,
like not responding for 5 seconds.
Should I use another email client?
Everything else is running very smoothly.
My CPU is a new core to quad 8200, and I recently installed a new
motherboard, it should run faster then my mother ;)
Any ideas ?
Regards,
Roy.

IPFW torrent

2009-03-10 Thread Roy Stuivenberg
Hello,

I can't seem to get my torrent client working, when ipfw is up.

This rules i use in my script for the torrent client (ktorrent)

# Sta ktorrent toe naar buiten.
$cmd 00283 allow tcp from any to any 50427 out via $pif setup keep-state
$cmd 00284 allow udp from any to any 50427 out via $pif keep-state
$cmd 00285 allow udp from any to any 50428 out via $pif keep-state
$cmd 00286 allow udp from any to any 50429 out via $pif keep-state

In my router these ports are open too.

I googled about this issue and found this rule .. but It doesn't look safe
to me?
Looks like everything is open?

520 allow tcp from any to any out keep-state

Regards,
Roy.

screensaver blanktime in the kernel

2009-02-28 Thread Roy Stuivenberg
 Hello,

I would like to set screensaver blanktime in the kernel.
I have daemon_saver set in the kernel also, and all the needed components in
kernel.
When I set blanktime in rc.conf, it's not working.
After reboot, daemon_saver starts at the spot, but it's not returning
anymore.
The same goes for setting blanktime with vidcontrol -t "seconds"
I'm working without X11, just because i like that, but prefer to have a
screensaver in the console.
After spending few days about this issue, I'm hoping someone knows the
answer to this.
Help! ;)

Regards,
Roy.

stable-supfile --> freebsd-update

2009-01-20 Thread Roy Stuivenberg
Hello,

I wanted to send a follow up on my message, because I did not provide much
info ...
**
Hello,

After I completed my Freebsd 7.1 stable, and updated all the ports, I got
prompted with another logonscreen.
Whatever I try, I can't login with my useraccount and even not logon as
root.
This happened severall times now, the only way was to reinstall everything,
and I was hoping to resolve this by completly finish upgrading the ports.
And .. again the same problem.
I'm really hoping to get some answers that will solve this problem, maybe
someone had to deal with this issue before ??
*

Follow up
===>
My problem has something to do with gnome2 I guess.
You see, I can logon, except in graphical user mode.
This happend after complete update (gnome2 included)
I get a different logon prompt, and then I already know I won't be able to
logon.
Only this time I was hoping an upgrade of all the ports would help me .. and
it didn't.
I really hope I will find or get an answer to this problem.

Regards,
Roy.

Can't find the `7.0-RELEASE-p7' distibution

2008-12-25 Thread Roy Stuivenberg
Hello,

I have FreeBSD 7-RELEASE, and upgraded to point 7.
When I try to install packages/ports with sysinstall (FTP) it won't work and
give me this message.

Warning: Can't find the `7.0-RELEASE-p7' distribution on this
FTP server. You may need to visit a different server for
the release you are trying to fetch or go to the Options
menu and to set the release name to explicitly match what's
available on ftp.freebsd.org (or set to "any").
Would you like to select another FTP server?

I have already tried multiple ftp locations, but always get the same
result.
Search the web for answers, and did not find any.

That's my Question.
Regards,
Roy.
