installation problem.
Hello, this is problem related to Windows while trying to install new OS. I know this is BSD forum, but if anyone can help. I'll appreciate. I want to install Linux on my laptop and I am facing following problem while installing. Aftet refering to other side and by experince of others experince I have downloaded Linux to install. I have Dell Inspiron E1505/6400 laptop. Problems are - 1. How can I new partition / Resize partition/ or create free spance. It have single C: Partition by Dell. 70 GB HD space is available to use. It uses one hidden partition so I can create new partition using Partition magic. I downloaded Evaluation verstion of Partition magic which allow me to create partition but not resize parition. 2. I downloaded linux on HDD from net and trying to Create bootable DVD from that. I create it using Nero and CD burnerXP Pro 3. When I try to boot using that It goes to some weired prompt. It boot with some software called caldera 7.03 which is command prompt only. It has few command but too diff to understand. I donno what is this? It goes to command prompt [DR-DOS] A:\ I will apprecite if anyone can help me with above problems. Helllo, I want to Install Linux on Dell Inspiraon E1505/ 6400 laptop can anyone tell me is it compatitable? Can I install it? I got now syslog as well as sysctl is there but they have problem... I think

sysctl / webalizer package installation
Hello, I am trying to install webalizer package. While trying to make, I get following errors thanks a lot for info .. Previously there was no ports directory under /usr So I downloded all 12,### ports from net and extract them under /usr now when I cd /usr/ports/graphics/gd or cd /usr/ports/graphics/png and give command make it gives following error -bash-2.05b# pwd /usr/ports/graphics/png -bash-2.05b# make /usr/sbin/sysctl: not found /usr/ports/Mk/bsd.port.mk, line 1030: warning: /usr/sbin/sysctl -n kern.osreldate returned non-zero status I have virtual server from ipowerweb. I found no sysctl on it. webalizer package installation
Hello, I am trying to install webalizer. I am newbie and I have tried a lot. But it is giving me error .. checking for main in -lpng... no configure: error: png library not found... please install Png. checking for libgd.so... (cached) no configure: error: gd library not found... please install gd. 1) How to install gd and png libraries? Can you provide me url? How to check they are installed or not? 2) I also want to install a JAVA on freeBSD. What are the packages requires, how to install them.
