For what it's worth, I have run several systems with 4GB RAM on FreeBSD/i386 6.3. The only i386 I have left with this much RAM was recently upgraded to 7.0; the rest of my large RAM systems run FreeBSD/ amd64. I didn't see anything obviously bad in your kernel config. By the way, thanks for making FreeNAS... I use it on my home NFS/AFP server to great success... the only thing I wish it included was the amrstat binary to test my LSI RAID controller status (I just copy it from another 6.3 system I have and it works). ___ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

This is especially necessary for libraries and programs that link against those libraries and those programs that dynamically load extensions (such as postgres). Otherwise you're forcing two copies of libc to load at the same time in some cases and that causes no end of confusion.

First thing is to update your zones to cut the TTL down to a few hours or even minutes. You need to do this so that the current TTL expires *before* your intended move. If your current TTL is 7 days, you're too late ;-( Just before moving, issue the NS record updates with your registrar. Hopefully you use a registrar that lets you do this dynamically via the web. It usually won't take effect for at least a day as the top-level zone files are not updated but once per day, I believe. If you have secondary DNS servers that are outside your network that is moving (this is a prime example of why this is recommended), be sure to update your DNS server and have the secondary fetch a copy of the new zone file. Then move the network, bring it all up again, and you should be good to go. If your TTL is shorter than the move time only some *really* broken remote sites won't notice in time. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Vivek Khera, Ph.D.Khera Communications, Inc. I have one 1650, three 1550s (one with dual CPU and hardware RAID), and one 2450 dual CPU with hardware RAID all of which work just fine. You need to use the em ethernet driver on the 1650. When I did the install, it was not in the GENERIC kernel, but appears to be now, so it should just work. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Vivek Khera, Ph.D.Khera Communications, Inc. What I do is disable the netgraph bridging, since I don't like my interfaces constantly running in permiscous mode, then used NAT on the host with a private IP space to access the rest of the world. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Vivek Khera, Ph.D.Khera Communications, Inc. For me, that is pretty much not possible to do (I hate scheduling downtime when I'm awake since it affects many other users... and I hate waking up at 2am to do it). Thus, I just live with possibly inconsistent dumps. Such is life. -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Vivek Khera, Ph.D.Khera Communications, Inc.
