Raid0

2004-01-29 Thread Wayne Swart
Helo everyone

I was trying to make a raid0 filesystem on freebsd 4.9-RELEASE, following
all the steps exactly how they are in the handbook.
using 3 scsi drives.

I made the ccd device and everything...

When i get to the part where you have to do:
ccdconfig ccd0 32 0 /dev/da1 /dev/da2 /dev/da3

I get the following error:
ccdconfig: ioctl (CCDIOCSET): /dev/ccd0c: Inappropriate file type or
format

Can someone please help me?

Thanks

Help with exact

2003-12-17 Thread Wayne Swart
Hi guys (and gurls)

I am having a bit of issues using exact, getting it to match an expression
in my log file. what other options are there for order (if any)?

here is what i have in my log file for pop authentication:

Dec 17 10:55:28 gemini popa3d[69906]: Authentication passed for tobie
Dec 17 10:55:28 gemini popa3d[69906]: 0 messages (0 bytes) loaded
Dec 17 10:55:37 gemini popa3d[69906]: 0 (0) deleted, 0 (0) left

Using popa3d

This is what i have in my exact config file:

#popa3d
order username,address
match (Authentication passed for) (.*).*\[([0-9\.]*)\]$

I have tried it without the '()'s as well and without the
'(.*).*\[([0-9\.]*)\]$' options, but to no avail.

it doesn't seem to write to the /var/exact/relay file?

Here is what i see when running exact with -d -f:

0 bytes added to file
read 0 lines with a pause of 100 usecs
200 bytes added to file
read 3 lines with a pause of 100 usecs
Matching against Dec 17 10:58:09 gemini popa3d[69919]: Authentication
passed for tobie
No match
Matching against Dec 17 10:58:09 gemini popa3d[69919]: 0 messages (0
bytes) loaded
No match
Matching against Dec 17 10:58:09 gemini popa3d[69919]: 0 (0) deleted, 0
(0) left
No match

Can you guys please help me, as i have to get this up and running?

Thanking you in advance.

Kin Regards.

disconnecting box

2003-01-27 Thread Wayne Swart
Hi everyone

I have a freebsd 4.7 box that keeps disconnecting for no reason. It simply
just disconnects from the internet and if i do a ifconfig dc0 down and
then ifconfig dc0 up, it comes back up again

i have tried 3 different network cards. if i use a 10mbit card it doesn't
happen, but on a 100mb card it lasts like 3 hours and then falls over

i took a look at /var/log/messages but it shows nothing

if anyone knows anything about this please let me know, i have to get it
fixed, but i do not even know where to begin

kind regards

disconnecting nic

2003-01-29 Thread Wayne Swart
Good day all you smart ppl

I seem to have an unsolvable (unsovable only in my small world) problem.

i have posted this problem to you guys before but no one was able to help
me with it :(

i have two network cards in my box (freebsd 4.7), both are accton 1207f
(dc type) running at 100baseTX full-duplex. as soon as i send high volumes
of data through dc0 to another box on the lan, like for instance over an
ftp connection, dc0 looses its connectivity

by doing an ifconfig dc0 down, and then up again, it brings the connection
back up only to see it fail after a minute or so.

if i remove dc1 completely from the box it works fine
could this be because of irq conflicts even though dc0 and dc1 are not
using the same irq's?

please help me

kind regards

We have done the loopback test, and the line its self proves to be up.
So the only thing i can think of is that the router on the other side is
down.

I got a p120 with 40mb ram, vxpro chipset pc. I had trouble booting from

pc.

when i placed the hdd in the p120, it doesn't want to pick up my nic, wich
is in rl card, but i have tried dc cards as well.

the pc does pick up the card in slot 3 with irq 11, but dmesg, or ifconfig
shows nothing on it.

if i do a cat /dev/pci it says that the device is not configured, but the
vga card is also pci and works in al 4 slots.

can anyone help me out with this please?

Nvidia drivers

2003-04-03 Thread Wayne Swart
Hi there everyone

A while ago I emailed this list regarding my network interfaces stop
responding when I am running x windows.
I have now installed the latest nvidia drivers on FreeBSD 4.8-RC and I
have found that it is indeed those drivers that causes that.

I have two dc type cards in my box, and if i start transfering a lot of
data through dc0, it stops responding (only when xwindows is running)

I am using an AMD K-6 333, is it because of this?
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks
