5.3 isn't supported by ports any longer, so you should consider
updating to 5.4 or 6.0.

Building Perl 5.8.7

2005-11-21 Thread Olivier Nicole
Hi,

I am trying to build perl 5.8.7 from the ports.

On some machines it goes OK.

On my 5.3 machines I get:

BSDPAN" -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe -I/usr/local/include -O -pipe -Wall
`sh cflags "optimize='-O -pipe'" toke.o` -fpic toke.c
  CCCMD =  gcc -DPERL_CORE -c
-DAPPLLIB_EXP="/usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.7/BSDPAN" -fno-strict-aliasing -pipe
-I/usr/local/include -O -pipe -Wall
toke.c: In function `S_scan_formline':
toke.c:10392: error: invalid operands to binary +
toke.c:10392: error: invalid lvalue in unary `&'
toke.c:10392: error: invalid lvalue in unary `&'
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/lang/perl5.8/work/perl-5.8.7.
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/lang/perl5.8.

FreeBSD banyan.cs.ait.ac.th 5.3-RELEASE-p18 FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE-p18 #6: Thu Jul

Any help appreciated.

TIA
