Did you move /usr/local/bin to be before /usr/bin in the paths of users who print? I meet this problem too! My KDE can't connect CUPS. And CUPS can't detect out my HP 5100 printer. Dear FreeBSD people, Despite having started various attempts, I cannot print within KDE 3.5.4 on FreeBSD 6.2-BETA. I always receive error message as follows: An error occurred while retrieving the printer list: Connection to CUPS server failed. Check that the CUPS server is correctly installed and running. Error: localhost: read failed (14). Printer files are installed. Can someone please help?
