Heya, I would like to make packets destined for an IP address bound to a network card Get dropped onto the wire so I can do some QoS on it. I found the the following sysctl variable But am unsure about what it does. I cannot find any documentation on it.
net.link.ether.inet.useloopback It is currently set to 1, so enabled. I had a comment from someone that the kernel uses the loopback interface to Pass packets destined for itself (not nessasarly just the 127.0.0.0/8 network), maybe this will stop the kernel from performing this action and drop it onto the wire the ip address is bound to.
