FreeBSD-12.0-RC3-i386-disc1.iso does not boot

2018-12-01 Thread CenturyLink Customer
Hello all:Sorry, this old Pentium 4 refurbished test machine has been
obstinate during ALPHA, BETA, and now RC.I had a workaround using the BTX
bootloader from ALPHA8 and pasted it into BETA3; meanwhile, remastering the .iso
disk afterwards. I was able to boot that, and setup a minimal system, as test.I
don't know if I can devote much more testing; but I thought you all would like
to hear feedback anyway.BTW, I have a Thinkpad laptop running 11.2-RELEASE-p5
for my main system; works very well, THX.Very Sincerely Yours,cksalexan...@q.com

I have been test booting FreeBSD-12.0-BETA1-i386-bootonly.iso without success
this morning.
Previously, the same no boot for a.k.a. "BETA2" and "BETA3", as well.
Checksums for these discs match okay.
Suggestion, was made by others, that recent changes to boot-loader may have
caused this.
Suggestions or workarounds would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
cksalexan...@q.com

11.2-RC1-i386-bootonly.iso new install kernel panic - solved?

2018-06-05 Thread CenturyLink Customer
I installed a 11.2-RC1-i386-bootonly.iso on a Pentium 4 desktop test
system. There was a double kernel panic, followed by a single kernel panic. On a
manual poweroff/power-on (reboot) I edited both:/boot/loader.conf with the
code: i915_load="YES"and/etc/rc.conf with code: kld_list="i915kms".Following
editing the files, the system boots okay.(There are some drm messages,
though.)- cksalexan...@q.com
