cvsup server and firewall, new ports involved?

2005-05-22 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer
i used to cvsup on a server with ipfw firewall and had port 5999 open on
this box therefore. Recently cvsup only worked when the firewall was
down. Do i need to allow more, i.e. finger etc?

recent fix of NTFS readdir function

2005-05-06 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer
Hello,

i also recognized this bug some time ago and circumvented it by using an
msdosfs partition. This should go in stable too.

error messages from easyraid ex array

2005-03-10 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer
Hello,
sometimes i see following messages with FreeBSD-5.3, ahc driver and an
easyraid ex system. We have two identical boxes one connected to another
system has no problem. The problematic error messages occur when
berkeley-db files are massaged by cyrus imap server.

I cannot believe there is a media error on an raid 5 system that is not
announced at the control panel of the raid box.

Re: Mail selection options in sysinstall(8).

2003-09-18 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer
The simple MTAs should work equally well as i.e. sendmail nullmailer or
postfix with typical TLS secured mail servers and password protection
for clients that have no ceritificate from server (dial in boxes).

The only one that worked here against a postfix tls secured server was
msmtp (i installed version 0.5, after this i found the older version
in the ports). I had no success with ssmtp and esmtp.

Problems with ifhp and phaser740

2002-04-09 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer

Hello,

the new ifhp port 3.5.7 breaks our network support for appsocket
tektronics phaser 740. I switched back to 3.3.10.

Is LPRng and ifhp outdated, no more managed or in other words, can i use
our HP-Postscript and Tektronics Phaser with less problems with CUPS?

Any experience is welcome.

At least a portupgrade should not completely break printing.

Greetings

Euro and XFree86-4.1.0, the canonical way?

2002-01-10 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer

how i got the euro:

using

Option XkbLayout de(euro)

in /etc/X11/XF86Config did not work. The xkb compiler complained in many
ways (clash with nodeadkeys variant and more), even when not using
german keyboard.

the following worked

using LANG=de_DE.ISO8859-15

AND

xmodmap -e 'keycode 26 = e E EuroSign cent'

does the thing. I cannot believe that xmodmap is the only way ...

I did a fresh make world on stable today.
First time since years i use an IDE system:

and 76345MB MAXTOR 6L080J4 [155114/16/63] at ata0-master UDMA100.

Everything works ok on a fresh installed SCSI-system.

2001-09-20 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer

You have a www and database server? So you have to raise a limit with
sysctl(8) (kern.maxfiles) or compile a kernel with a large MAXUSER
constant.

Re: PPP Can't Connect

2001-07-19 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer

i still have one provider where ppp is broken (planet-interkom germany)
with new version, all others tested so far work with old and new
version. I also sent a similar log file (not to this group). Of course
all providers work with win9x-dialin. The new ppp code unfortunately
seems to be more fuzzy in negotiation issues but will shurely have some
advantages in return (faster?, more reliable if it works?).

successful built libc_r.so.3 broke python-1.5.2

1999-08-21 Thread Fritz Heinrichmeyer

The python-1.5.2 test cases and unfortunately the fine sketch-0.6.1 program
(can edit ai-files and the famous tiger.ps) dump core
in the select-routine of my selfcompiled lbc_r.so.3. The one i had from
August 8. (not compiled myself) works ok. The
rest of my selfbuilt system seems to work fine. There is no deeper reason
for using ms-outlook at the moment.
