6.1 and full i915 support?

Hi,

Initial support for i915 based graphics cards were introduced last April
and enabled in the Makefile in November resulting an i915-ready agp
driver, but the drm subsystem was not working. Thanks to A. Popov the
problem of drm was solved and the changes were put to the cvs tree
(i915_drv.c 1.3, drm_drv.c 1.4) in December. In the last few months this
code remained in the MAIN branch resulting that 6.1 users can get only a
half working driver for their i915 based systems.
I have been using a patched driver on my 6.X box for almost 4 months
without any problem, so I really do not understand why this part of the
drm code was not MFC'd into the RELENG_6 branch. Is there any reason for
 doing so?

Thanks, Laci

Yes, I passed through this bug when I first tried my nx6110 with 5.4,
but this issue were solved in 6.0. Did the same problem appear again? I
do not think so. I hope...

No, I have never used powerd. As nx6110 is a Celeron based model, powerd
is of minimal importance. Note that the machine worked well the day
before yesterday (with some exceptions, such as acpi_bus_number: can't
get _ADR).

synaptics touchpad on hp nx6110

2006-03-23 Thread László Károly
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi,

According to www.hp.com nx6110 has a synaptics touchpad. I have tried
with an Ubuntu Live CD and detected correctly:
mice: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice
 Synaptic Touchpad, model: 1
 Firmware: 6.2
 Sensor: 37
 new absolute packet format
 Touchpad has extended capability bits
 -> multifinger detection
 -> palm detection
 -> pass-through port
input: SysPS/2 Synaptics Touchpad on isa0060/serio4
serio: Synaptics passthrough port at isa0060/serio4/input6
ts: Compaq touchscreen protocol output

Under FreeBSD 6.1-PRERELEASE it is detected as IntelliMouse even if I
set hw.psm.synaptics_support=1:
psm0: unable to allocate IRQ
psmcpnp0: irq 12 on acpi0
psm0: current command byte:0065
psm0: irq 12 on atkbdc0
ioapic0: routing intpin 12 (ISA IRQ 12) to vector 60
psm0: [GIANT-LOCKED]
psm0: model IntelliMouse, device ID 3-00, 3 buttons
psm0: config:, flags:0008, packet size:4
psm0: syncmask:08, syncbits:00

Is there any solution for this problem?

Best, Laci

Bug(?) in cardbus code MFC'd to RELENG_6 on 30 January

Hi,

I have a D-Link AirPlus G+ DWL-G650+ wireless cardbus adapter which I
could use with NDISulator until I cvsup'd to 6.1-PRERELEASE yesterday.

pciconf info:

dmesg with the "old" cardbus code:

dmesg with the "new" code:

Is it a known issue? Or should I cvsup to HEAD for solving this problem?

Thanks, Laci

So the combination of dri-devel and xorg-6.8.99.16_1 works fine. For me
the latest xorg-snap (903) does not work. Anyway here is a path for the
vanilla xorg 6.8.2, it works:

The combination of graphics/dri-devel and x11-servers/xorg-server is not
suitable for i915gm. This chip is only supported by
x11-servers/xorg-server-snap. However it does not work well with either
graphics/dri-devel or dri from cvs (as of today).

Any idea?

In my HP Compaq nx6110 (i915GM) too drmsub wants to come directly as a
child of pci0:

drmsub0: port 0x7000-0x7007 mem
0xd040-0xd047,0xc000-0xcfff,0xd048-0xd04b irq 16
at device 2.0 on pci0
[drm:pid0:drm_load]
[drm:pid0:drm_agp_init] agp_available = 0
error: [drm:pid0:drm_load] *ERROR* Card isn't AGP, or couldn't
initialize AGP.
[drm:pid0:drm_lastclose]
device_attach: drmsub0 attach returned 12
pci0: at device 2.1 (no driver attached)

If I have drm loaded after boot time (by X.org) there will be agpgart
but no dri/cardX...

I have the same experience. But note that i915 (both agp and drm) is
still in beta stage. Check this PR:
http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=80396 (Problem Report
kern/80396 : [agp] i915 AGP not supported).

I have a Pinnacle remote controll with serial port connector. It works
fine (tested only with mPlayer): lircd --device=/dev/cuad0 --drive=pinsys

Re: Problems with OpenOffice compile after upgrade from 5.2.1 to 5.3

Hi,
You should recompile gcc3.2.3 (cd /usr/ports/lang/gcc32; make
deinstall install clean), when you do it you get the correct version
as "i386-portbld-freebsd5.3". With this you can compile OO.org
successfully. Furthermore, I recommend you to upgrade your system to
5.3-STABLE, on 5.3-RELEASE there are threading issues with OO.org.

cdrecord/cdrdao, and cannot reach is with cdparanoia, etc.

Can somebody help me to find the reason of this special error?

PS: cvsup of RELENG-5 from yesterday (cdrecord recompiled). By the
way, I could burn CD with cdrecord on it in the last 3 weeks, with
some older RELENG-5 (and with an older firmware).

It works fine in my box (FreeBSD 5.3-p2, cdrecord 2.00.3). Note that my
drive has only firmware TS03; try to downgrade to an older version (I
know it seems to be ridiculous, however, sometimes new firmwares may
more buggy than older ones).
