UPDATING says:
[5] If you get warnings from ld-elf.so that it cannot load
libc.so, run 'ldconfig -R /usr/obj/usr/src/lib/libc' and repeat
the installworld target.

But you may need to substitute your own values of "/usr/obj" and
"/usr/src" in the above path.

I believe 4.x does not require quotes. Try without.
