[Freeciv-Dev] (PR#39996) document map/savegame format

2007-12-30 Thread Daniel Markstedt

URL: http://bugs.freeciv.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=39996

The map/savegame format needs to be documented better for 2.2.

Rudimentary docs available at http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/Map_format needs
to be expanded.

It's also true for even 2.0...

I want to have old (pre-2.1) map format desribed too. Anybody remember it?

And once again, there should be some changes in the requirement of saved
parameters. For example, is there a need in map.landpercent for scenarios?

It is very comfortable to get help after right clicking on city
   improvement/worklist item/...

Good idea but surely it can be done with a lot less code?

If we get the question a lot, we should make the default *ON*. Those users
that don't want them can turn them off

Speaking as a player I disagree. Removing the sliders was a step
forward and we shouldn't change the default back just because players
 aren't used to it.

Another confused user: http://forum.freeciv.org/viewtopic.php?t=4332

It seems to be especially hard to figure out for users with only one
mouse button (*hrm* MacBook *cough*) since it then involves a modifyer
key.

Re: [Freeciv-Dev] (PR#39998) access functions city_name() and player_name()

2007-12-30 Thread William Allen Simpson

URL: http://bugs.freeciv.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=39998

Added the TRANS comments requested in PR#39997.

Committed trunk revision 14208.
Committed S2_2 revision 14209.

Committed S2_1 revision 14210, with update-po to propagate TRANS comments.

The latter also has some city and player functions backported from S2_2,
for convenience in file comparing (and they have better error checking).
