[Freeciv-Dev] [bug #19608] Number of units built
Update of bug #19608 (project freeciv): Status:None = Invalid Open/Closed:Open = Closed ___ Follow-up Comment #5: Everything looks to be working as designed, even if it's not immediately obvious, so closing as Invalid. (Suggestions welcome in a new ticket for better ways to indicate the different states of multiple build slot production than obscure punctuation. But consider *all* the places where city production progress appears.) ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19608 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #2, bug #19608 (project freeciv): But what does the 2 mean? ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19608 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #3, bug #19608 (project freeciv): It's the number of build slots, i.e. the number of units of this type this city *could* build in a turn under ideal conditions. If you see X/{2*40} (and remember what the punctuation means) you can infer that this city is not living up to its potential, and perhaps with a little attention get it to X/[2*40], meaning that you're getting two units this turn. ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19608 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #19608 (project freeciv): I think this is working as designed, even if it's not very obvious. The curly brackets in 1/{2*40} indicate that the city will not use all its slots this turn, and I and (I think) you expect not all slots to be used given the numbers. In contrast, if it said 1/[2*40], that would indicate we're getting 2 Riflemen this turn (but would require at least +79 production surplus). I'm not brilliantly happy about the use of non-obvious punctuation to indicate this distinction, but I didn't have a better idea (at least not one that was sufficiently concise to use everywhere this notation is used). Ideas welcome. (I notice that for some reason I didn't document this notation in the online help for build slots... perhaps I assumed that people would pick it up if they cared?) ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/bugs/?19608 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev
