WORKS (typo), much improved in 2.6.

In 2.5 a hallucination on my side ("enter [allied] marketplace" does not
exclude "establish trade route"). 

Remotely related observation: In 2.5 establishing a trade route is easy,
there's a popup asking me if I want to do that. In 2.6 I get no question
(remaining move points after airlift at 0), but I can activate the airlifted
freight and enter "r" manually to get a trade route.

Yes. You can only share a tile with an ally.

I don't think you can.

You can establish a trade route to an allied/domestic city without entering it
first in 2.6.

Have you try to do "Enter Marketplace"? It may result in "Establish Trade
Route". They are the same action in 2.5. The text variance is client
controlled. I wouldn't be surprised if the client is wrong.

The Caravan will enter the marketplace rather than establishing a trade route
when establishing a trade route is impossible. Establishing a new trade route
between two cities that already have a trade route with each other is
impossible. Establishing a trade route when one of the cities don't have (or
can make) room for an extra trade route is impossible.

"Enter Marketplace" and "Establish Trade Route" are different actions in 2.6.

Details:

An AI is allied with another AI, and with me. The other AI is not allied with
me (= auto-peace), and has a unit in the capital (and other cities) of the
first AI. My caravan cannot enter these "occupied" cities. Is that as it
should be, and if yes, how can I
disable it?

If the caravan enters an "un-occupied" (= no foreign units) city it always
gets "enter marketplace" instead of "establish trade route. After about 300
turns I don't think that this can be okay, the source city has (now) pop 40+,
the target cities are on another continent, the distance is greater than 9,
and it works in the opposite direction (ally establishes trade routes with
me.)
