I haven't run FreeDOS under VirtualBox in a while - I just run Windows
there, since I run Linux on my laptop. I installed it this morning to
respond to Aitor's email. The last time I ran FreeDOS until VirtualBox
for anything serious, I recall that DOS GUI performance was about the
same as under VMWare Workstation. It's ok, not that great. Performance
will be better for DOS graphics under DOSEmu (if you run Linux) which
is what I use for FreeDOS almost all the time.

What about speed of graphical dos programs under virtualbox on WinXP?

That is a big issue for me :)

I've used VirtualBox for a long time, before Sun picked it up. (It was
previously developed by German software company innotek.) I didn't
have a current install of FreeDOS 1.0 since I last reinstalled my
laptop, so I just put FreeDOS 1.0 under VirtualBox. Works great.

[Freedos-devel] Virtualization made in Sun Microsystems

2008-09-05 Thread Aitor SantamarĂa
Hello,

Maybe you know it already, but it seems that Sun have launched their
own virtualisation software:
http://www.sun.com/software/products/virtualbox/get.jsp

It was completely new to me, but I was wondering if someone has tried
FreeDOS there already.

Cheers!
Aitor
