Master of Orion, released in about 1993. It is one of
the best computer-only strategy games going. It is
available at www.theunderdogs.org.

Tnaks a lot, but I have another problems.

I use the help an find it usage:
COLDboot / WARMboot - do a reboot with / without BIOS tests (POST)
HOTboot - try reboot at once using int 19h (will often crash!)

According trial, it seems HOTboot just jump to MBR without run the
BIOS and as the help says, it crashes. But I can't distinguish
COLDboot and WARMboot. Both of them seem to do the same as reboot.
What's the diffirence of them? I have use Google to search the keyword
"COLDboot" and "WARMboot"

Besides, the help says:
PURESUSP / PUREOFF - as SUSPEND / POWEROFF but does not stop IDE disks first
Which may be better?

there is this line:
VGAoff / VGAon- switch VGA DPMS screen off (no auto wake up!) / on
I have tried them, and I have to type "fdapm VAGon" without the
screen. Are there any instances that type may be usefull?

Thanks for both of your replies.

1.14 runs MOO on the default settings, but I had
problems with it crashing. mi.com crashed with 1.14
also. It might be my overclocked processor or my
finicky trident "blade3d" video card because I have
troubles of a different kind running MOO with ms-dos
7.1 on this same system -- counters in the game get
wacked out.

One of these days I will swap to a conservative video
card and reset the board to see if it makes a
difference. Right now the box constitutes the bottom
layer of a beige heap.

Try FDAPM {WARMBOOT/COLDBOOT} to reboot without press the power
button.

FreeDOS is the same as MS-DOS, can reboot without "shutdown".

We need a FreeDOS Compliance Engineer! Free Software Foundation has

FreeDOS is GPL, we should be able to sic the FSF GPL Compliance

copyrights.

Need a cool uniform for the position though. A big fishy whale
T-shirt is too casual. Maybe a black leather jumpsuit with red piping
adorned with the platinum triangle badge of office, and a stun-stick
sidearm for the recalcitrant. I wonder what the FSF's GPL Compliance
Engineers wear? I'm sure it's simply stunning, whatever it is.
The curious thing is that Eric knew this and didn't consider it a
violation, any more like these, Eric?

Hi,
Eric Auer escribió:
Hi, strange subject line, but:

IIRC bootsector is not overwritten, unless you do /MBR (at least in MS's).

SYS does write the boot sector all the time - you are mixing things
up with FDISK,

Oops, you're quite right. I must have been not thinking of it as I wrote.
PS Aitor: Yes, MODE and the new DISPLAY interface... Good to hear that
you will finally make it a device driver, then I only have to support
the FINAL interface in the next update ;-).

No, you are wrong. The next bunch of features will be 0.12, but not a
device driver. Sorry.
As I explaned over and over again (at least 3 times): the difference
between the final interface and the penultimate is less than 8 bytes:
the contents of AX and BX registers (and the INT call).
But I am off till March, so you have one more week at least.

[Freedos-user] Maybe a bug about fdconfig.sys or command.com

2005-02-19 Thread Xiang-Rui Wang
First, I see the fdconfig.sys has this line:
SHELL=C:\FDOS\command.com C:\FDOS /D /P=C:\fdauto.bat /K set
path=C:\FDOS\bin

Then I chang it to this:
SHELL=C:\FDOS\command.com C:\FDOS /D /P=C:\fdauto.bat /K set
path=C:\FDOS\bin;C:\UTILS\bin

After I reboot the machine, I found it hangs.(It seems Ctrl-Alt-Del don't work)

However, I did some things(I forgot what I had done) and I found the
above line is ok and it didn't hang again.

Now, I change that line to this:
SHELL=C:\FDOS\command.com C:\FDOS /D /P=C:\fdauto.bat /K set
path=C:\FDOS\bin;C:\UTILS\bin;C:\DJGPP\bin

But it hangs again.

Another thing is that when I boot the machine, it says "Bypassing
C:\fdauto.bat", and I don't know why since C:\fdauto.bat exists. Could
someone tell me how to fix it?
