Re: [Freedos-user] new ndn file manager version and mgrx update?

2019-08-22 Thread Jim Hall
I'm trying to download NDN, and I can't find the source code for this. The
downloads are all binary-only.

There's an NDN project on SourceForge, but it is long since abandoned. And
they don't seem to have a source code repository there anyway.

[Freedos-user] Keyboard configuration

XKEYB configuration files are text-only and well explained in
the documentation for this software. You can configure nearly
any keyboard layout using it.

Re: [Freedos-user] PXE freedos and img file

2019-08-22 Thread TK Chia

Hello all,

But i can't figure out how to add my .exe files to this FD12LITE.img file. >> Any
ideas ?> On a Mac, you can just mount that img file by double

clicking it in finder.> On Linux, you can mount it through the loop back
device.> On Windows, you may require additional software to mount a
filesystem image. IDK. I don’t use widows.

A quick note: the actual filesystem itself, where the extra files should
go, starts at offset 32256. (Offset 0 is the master boot record and
partition table.) So on Linux it is necessary to specify the offset to
mount from, e.g.

# mount -o loop,offset=32256 FD12LITE.img /mnt
...
# umount /mnt

I _think_ a Mac would be able to automatically parse the .img file and
find out where the filesystem is --- though I am not sure.

Thank you!

On a Mac, you can just mount that img file by double clicking it in finder.

On Linux, you can mount it through the loop back device.

On Windows, you may require additional software to mount a filesystem image.
IDK. I don’t use widows.

Normally, no. (Unless running in advanced mode)

My advice is to partition and format the desired location outside of the
installer. Then run the installer and let it install FreeDOS.

Note... it will install to what FreeDOS sees as drive C:. So, you may also need
to hide partitions if a different destination is required.

[Freedos-user] PXE freedos and img file

2019-08-22 Thread Jacques-Olivier Farcy
Hello all freedos users,

I am trying to use freedos on a pxe server in a university in France to update
the BIOS of a large group of computers.

The system boot and launch the freedos image file via the network (the LITE
version), so i have access to the dos shell, it works.

But i can't figure out how to add my .exe files to this FD12LITE.img file.

Any ideas ?
