[Freedos-user] Re: Linux on FreeDos or vice versa?

2005-03-29 Thread Leke Lapinkangas
Thanks for the very detailed responses!
I didn't realise you could partition the hard drive to run different
Operating Systems on the older computers. I will Google Lilo and find out
what it's all about.

[Freedos-user] Linux on FreeDos or vice versa?

2005-03-23 Thread Leke Lapinkangas

Is it possible to install Linux on FreeDos or vice versa?
More importantly could I do it on my machine?

COMPAQ LTE Lite 4/25C

PROCESSOR TYPE: 80486
   PROCESSOR SPEED: 25 mhz
   COPROCESSOR TYPE: 80487
   BUS TYPE: ISA
   BUS SPEED: 25 mhz

   MEMORY INFORMATION
   BASE MEMORY: 640k
   EXTENDED MEMORY: 11520k
   EXPANDED MEMORY: 0k

   VIDEO INFORMATION
   VIDEO BIOS: IBM
   VIDEO MEMORY: 256k
   VIDEO MAXIMUM MODE: VGA Adapter
   DISPLAY: Color Analog

If it is possible to do both ways. Which would be easier?

I checked out some minimalist distro listings, here's one example...

GNU Brutalware Linux

Website: http://hysteria.sk/brutalware/
Category: Minimalist
Description: Floppy-based Linux distribution. It is designed to boot from 3
floppies on any MSDOS/Windows machine.

...

But I was wondering if anyone had done it and which distro they used.

Cheers,
Leke.

Hei Gregory,
Would it be possible for you to send me your copies of autoexec.bat and
config.sys. Maybe you could paste them onto this thread.
Thanks, Leke.

2004-05-03 Thread Leke Lapinkangas

Thanks for creating FreeDos!
Q1:
Is the fdos1440.img the only thing I need to install FD, or is it just the
boot disk?
I got as far as partitioning the C: drive then at the ‘cd-rom install
error’ screen I hit option 2 to install from diskettes and it gave me…

Drive is FAT12.
Bad command or file name - “disk2.bat”
Bad command or file name - “ERRORLEVELS”
(etc…)

I checked fdisk again and it confirmed that it was a FAT32.

Here’s my system info if it’s any help.
