[Freedos-user] SNTP complains about lease time

2013-09-01 Thread Marcos Favero Florence de Barros
Hi,

  I've been using SNTP regularly to adjust the computer clock, but
  recently it began to give this message:

 What do you mean by saying `recently'?

I mean a few weeks ago.

 What device is your DHCP server? A router? Did you change it `recently'?

Sorry, I do not know what a DHCP server is.

My internet provider has installed what I suppose is a modem
several years ago, and it has not been changed since. It is
connected by cable to the Ethernet card of my computer.

Dhcp is dynamic host configuration protocol basicly it doles out IP address
to client pc

Normally it is on the router to your network, at *0.1 or *1.1 address

You have to make sure the dhcp client has the correct ip for the router and
it is communicate on right network mask

[Freedos-user] SNTP complains about lease time

2013-08-30 Thread Marcos Favero Florence de Barros
Hi Mike,

I've been using SNTP regularly to adjust the computer clock, but
recently it began to give this message:

mTCP SNTP Client by M Brutman (mbbrut...@gmail.com) (C)opyright 2009-2013
  Version: Apr 26 2013
Your DHCP lease expires in less than an hour! Please run DHCP.EXE.

My batch file does run DHCP before SNTP, and indeed the lease is
less than one hour:

Sending DHCP requests, Press [ESC] to abort.
DHCP request sent, attempt 1: Offer received, Acknowledged
Good news everyone!
IPADDR = ...
NETMASK = ...
GATEWAY = ...
NAMESERVER = ...
LEASE_TIME = 1800 seconds
Settings written to 'c:\internet\mtcp\mtcp_mar.cfg'

It used to be 3600 seconds, and SNTP did work.

Presumably we now must either increase lease time to one hour,
or reduce SNTP's requirement of a one-hour lease. How can we do
it?

Thanks,

Marcos
