Also, you should post  / have posted your BZIP2 and FreeDOS version
just at start, and from what piracy page you downloaded them.

IIRC it used to work for me centuries ago, but I no longer use BZIP2.

How ? slowo.tar.bz2 is not a valid filename under FreeDOS. ;-) Do
you use DOS ?

I have use FreeDOS with doslfn.

Then all archives on all FAT16 partitions is currupt, cause bzip2
unable to extract anything. Nevertheless, bzip2 under OpenBSD work very
well with archives on mounted FAT16 partition. So, archive or bzip2.exe
is corrupt?

 Or try 7-ZIP, it can decompress BZIP2 too.

later)
2) Do a clean boot w/o any drivers.
3) Try bzip2 again.

bzip2 -d slowo.tar.bz2
bzip2.exe: I/O or other error, bailing out.  Possible reason follows.
bzip2.exe: Input or output error (EIO)
Input file = slowo.tar.bz2, output file = slowo.tar
bzip2.exe: Deleting output file slowo.tar, if it exists.
