That's what I get for thinking... I just tried that, ie: "create table test (dt datetime NOT NULL default '-00-00 00:00:00');" on mysql 3,4 and 5. No problems. At least not with 'C' or 'en_US' locales set. Sorry for wasting the bandwidth...
