Dialup Admin and PPPoE
Hello, I've setup FreeRadius and Dialup Admin to manage it. One item I haven't been able to figure out is how to have the Upload and Download statistics updated on a regular basis. With PPPoE my users stay always on. Looking at the code it seems that transfer statistics are only updated if there is a complete session with a log off. Ideally I'd like something we could run every day or 12 hours or something that would update the transfer statistics even if the user is still online. I've done a lot of searching and read all the documents so if I've missed something I apologize. If somebody has some insight and can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks, Serge. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? See http://www.freeradius.org/list/users.html

RE: Dialup Admin and PPPoE
Thank you. I believe our NAS supports this and is working. If I go into the user it will show they've been connected for days and shows and upload/download value. The catch is the reporting. This data doesn't get updated into the statistics until the user logs off. I'm sure it's something specific with Dialup Admin since it's built from the premise of a dialup ISP which will have typical log offs. I was just curious if there is a config or change to make to Dialup Admin that would update statistics while an account is still logged on but not duplicate data. Php error with Dialup Admin and FreeBSD
Hi, I'm trying to test FreeRADIUS on FreeBSD which is the easy part however, I need a web ui and so Dialup Admin directly comes with the port on FreeBSD. Trying to get it running I am having difficulty with php it seems?? I get a green screen saying Dialup Admin and that's it. I went through the install guide here: http://wiki.freeradius.org/Dialup-admin#Apache+Configuration However, I am using Php5.4 which gets installed by default on FreeBSD unless using a Legacy port. Could anyone help me getting this to work or is the web-ui simply too old to be able to work with the latest FreeBSD variant? Regards, Kaya - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? I left php4 on the machine running Dialup Admin. I think I first tried 5.x but the Dialup Admin code is old and hasn't been updated for deprecated and removed features, IIRC. We originally installed it in a jail on FreeBSD 6.x. The machine is now running FreeBSD 8.3. However, we've left the installed Apache/PHP ports alone. It's firewalled off from public access. Are you sure you spelled the AddType rule correctly in httpd.conf to tell it that .php3 files are php applications? AddType application/x-httpd-php .php3 That's my first guess for why you are seeing php code output in the page rather than executed. If I had it to do over again, I would probably use the DaloRADIUS web interface instead of Dialup Admin. We populate the DB with scripts from our billing/provisioning system and just use Dialup Admin for read-only access to call logs for the occasional tech support calls. -- Scott LambertKC5MLE Unix SysAdmin lamb...@lambertfam.org - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? Re: Dialup Admin
Hi, radiusd -X is of no use in debugging dialup admin. It's a PHP tool running on a web server, whereas FreeRADIUS' radiusd is a stand-alone process doing RADIUS. Their only interface is that FreeRADIUS writes into a DB, and dialup admin reads data from that same DB; the two sides of it use a common schema. You need to configure both sides regarding database hostname, username, password. Setting it in raddb/* is NOT doing any good. So, if your dialup admin throws an error - look at the web server's error log. It will help you much more. So how would I approach having the Expiration field auto populated based on the account creation date/time and a predetermined account lifetime? For instance, creation date/time + 12-hours, or date + 1-day. Thanks in advance for any guidance. Why don't you simply write some kind of small webif in php to do this? It's easy to predefine values and just add them to the database when a non-technical person presses a button or something like it. (you could even add multiple timeframes in a dropdownbox or so) With a little coding you could even integrate such a page in the existing dialup admin if this is desired. I would not use expiration also, but some no-resetting sql counter. You will also need to find a way to auto-delete expired accounts. Just my 2cents. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? RE: Automatically Generating Expiration - Freeradius 2.1.9 / mysql 5.1 / dialup admin
I don't know of a way to do that in dialup_admin, but you could potentially look at using a trigger on insert in MySQL. That might be problematic however if you have some users that you don't want to automatically assign this Expiration to. Otherwise if the services assigned are simple it might be easier to create a pared down account creation script either as an extension of dialup_admin or as a standalone app. Ben -Original Message- From: freeradius-users- bounces+wiechman.lists=gmail@lists.freeradius.org [mailto:freeradius-users- bounces+wiechman.lists=gmail@lists.freeradius.org] On Behalf Of mikal Sent: Wednesday, November 24, 2010 12:51 AM To: freeradius-users@lists.freeradius.org Subject: Automatically Generating Expiration - Freeradius 2.1.9 / mysql 5.1 / dialup admin What I'm trying to do is enable a non-technical person to create temporary, guest like accounts using the dialup admin interface. FR 2.1.8 + dialup admin: Online users
Dear all, I am having troubles with user_finger.php3 because Online users do not show up. Problem is that there are no entries in radacct with 'AcctStopTime'. Entries show up in my radacct table when the user session ends and a AcctStopTime gets logged. But then the user is not online anymore ;-) Any ideas? To fix your warning about mktime(), edit the file function.php3, go to line 95 and the function should look like this. function date2time($date) { list($day,$time)=explode(' ',$date); $day = explode('-',$day); $time = explode(':',$time); #$timest = mktime($time[0],$time[1],$time[2],$day[1],$day[2],$day[0]); $timest = mktime(0,0,0,$day[1],$day[2],$day[0]); return $timest; } I had the same problem and that was the fix for me. Does it make it sense to use dialup admin for administration if the freeRADIUS server uses the active directory for authentification? Not a lot. Hi i'm presently using dialup admin for client connexion to the net. but my handicap is the time counter. i would like to know if it would be possible to set graphical time counter for a customer . also is it possible to increase the time limit for a customer that may require an hour more. if yes how please. thanks -- -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_ ANIAMBOSSOU Carl NIAMS TECHNOLOGIES tel: +229 90 04 08 58 +229 97 48 01 33 COTONOU REPUBLIC OF BENIN WEST AFRICA - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? failed login accounting with dialup admin
I have a small accounting problem with freeradius and dialup admin which I can't find a way to solve it. I've set freeradius to authenticate EAP-TLS, I want to log people who failed to authenticate to mysql with rlm_sql, which will show in dialup admin failed login page. I put in radiusd.con post-auth section the sql module: Post-Auth-Type REJECT { #insert-module-name-here sql } the post-auth query in sql.conf: postauth_query = INSERT into ${postauth_table} (id, user, pass, reply, date) values ('', '%{User-Name}', '%{User-Password:-Chap- Password}', '%{reply:Packet-Type}', NOW()) the sql query runs well, it put the failed login to the radpostauth table but the dialup admin failed login page is searching to the radacct table for the failed user which will never find it. am I doing the right way to put the sql module inside the post-auth? or should I put it in other section? I don't want to change the postauth_query but is there any way to add another query to put the data to radacct table? thanks in advance - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? RE: Dialup Admin NAS List
Whilst this is a good example it still doesn't suit my purpose. It requires someone to constantly update the list for it to be effective. This is not to be confused with the clients. I have multiple roaming numbers, therefore if a customer is travelling around and dials in at different locations I will receive a diff NASIP from that local POP. As this information is provided in the account start/stop and update packets then why enter them manually. Just drill through the existing radacct table filtering on no stop time to see a list of active NAS's and display them as I wanted. Re: Dialup admin Display users online (suggestion)
Cory Robson wrote: I am slowly getting around this interface and notice many things that could be improved upon but I'm lacking in the coding department. For example the user_finger.php page, this does a nice job once you have manually entered all of the pops into the separate naslist file but can become a royal pain to maintain. If someone could rewrite the code to extract the users online from the raddact table and simply group them by the independent nas's this would be a far simpler method. As you added additional pops to your range nothing to add/remove in the code, it simply regenerates as people log in from that pool. If you are using sql to keep radius client info then you don't need to do any extra work, since you already have your clients added in the table for freeradius to function correctly. What you are suggesting isn't a lot of work. The idea was to have more information than just the ip of the nas server though (like description, ports available). In any case it could be added as a configuration option I have done a very similar thing with the failed logins page. Have the sql query dumping failed logins into the postauth table from the radius process and then have dialup admin failed logins script running an sql query against that table instead. Alas my coding is not that good so I'm not getting all records just the last one. Again help would be needed for me to finish this. It's a nice thought. Re: dialup admin coding - help required
I don't have an environment to test this, and, I'm no PHP expert, but, I've got some similar stuff working, and, I suspect that the changes below might work for you... You can't include PHP variables in HTML text outside of the ? ? tags and expect them to be interpolated. Generally, it's just easier to use PHP echo statements for things that require variables to be interpolated. Below is an example of your code with this resolved. No guarantees, but, hopefully it points you in the right direction. In case you don't know, pretty good documentation with examples for PHP can be found at www.php.net. Dialup admin Display users online (suggestion)
I am slowly getting around this interface and notice many things that could be improved upon but I'm lacking in the coding department. I have done a very similar thing with the failed logins page. Have the sql query dumping failed logins into the postauth table from the radius process and then have dialup admin failed logins script running an sql query against that table instead. Alas my coding is not that good so I'm not getting all records just the last one. Again help would be needed for me to finish this. Anyone up to the task to assist in this matter Regards Cory Robson - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? See http://www.freeradius.org/list/users.html

dialup admin ippool administraton
Hi, I need a GUI for administration of the ippool-feature. Currently I'm using freeradius 1.1.1 with dialup admin 1.8 from CVS. The ippool-feature works fine, my aim is to add/edit/delete ip-pools within the dialup-admin. I know, I have to parse the radiusd.conf and write an approperiate php-script. My questions: - Has anybody done this before? Any suggestions? - Is it possible to put the ippool-information into a table of the radius-db (like the nas list) and let freeradius use the information in this table instead of the radiusd.conf? - Are there security issues, letting dialup-admin write into the radiusd.conf file? with best regards, olaf -- Echte DSL-Flatrate dauerhaft für 0,- Euro*! Re: dialup-admin problem
Hi, OK - I think I figured out my problem, although not sure exactly which correction I did fixed it. However, I am still getting the MySQL Debug output and was wondering how to get rid of it: DEBUG(SQL,MYSQL DRIVER): Query: SELECT groupname FROM usergroup WHERE username = 'srmiller'; DEBUG(SQL,MYSQL DRIVER): Query Result: um, debugging is enabled by default. it helps fix things for the new installers. to 'shut it up' you simply edit the admin.conf in the conf/ directorylook for the obvious line: sql_debug: true and comment it out alan - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? Question about dialup-admin
I've downloaded dialup-admin. I've changed few values from the admin.conf file, such as mysql username and password, and path to the different directories. I also created the badusers table in the radius in the mysql. I opened a web browser and I can see the accounting is working ok, but I can´t see any bad users. I've already enabled the log auth in the radiusd.conf (log_auth = yes), so now I´ve got some entriesin the /var/log/radius/radius.log. I've been reading the README file, and it says that the bin/log_badloginsit will constantly check the radiusd.log file. But it seems that this doesn't happen. I hope someone knows how I can resolve this problem, or another solution so I can get the badusers. Thanks. - List info/subscribe/unsubscribe? See http://www.freeradius.org/list/users.html
