Drs. Emma Towlson and Signe Bray at the University of Calgary are seeking
applications for a postdoctoral scholar who will use c*omputational
modeling of brain network alterations to study relationships to mental
illness risk*. The project will involve working with neuroimaging data to
build whole-brain simulations and examine network characteristics.
Depending on interest, the postdoc may play a role in study design, data
collection and processing, though the focus is modeling and data analysis.
This is a 2-year position with the possibility of extension. Applicants
should have interest in computational approaches to brain and mental health
and have a background in network neuroscience, psychology, neurosciences,
physics, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline. Experience with
neuroimaging and strong data analytic skills are required.

Calgary is a city of ~1.3M located a short-drive from Canada’s Rocky
Mountains, offering outstanding outdoor recreation opportunities and more
days of sunshine per year than any other major Canadian city. The postdoc
will integrate with more than 300 Brain and Mental Health researchers at
UCalgary and benefit from a new Computational Neuroscience Platform (

University of Calgary is accepting applications for two Postdoctoral
Scholar positions in Developmental neuroimaging and Computational modeling
of mental illness risk. Both are 2-year positions with the possibility of
extension.

Postdocs will work with Drs. Signe Bray and Emma Towlson on projects
related to precisely measuring brain development, characterizing brain
alterations related to risk for neurodevelopmental and mental health
conditions, e.g., related to perinatal complications, and early detection
to support early intervention. Depending on interest, the postdocs may play
a role in study design and data collection, data processing, analysis,
methods development and computational modeling.

Applicants must be nearing completion of a PhD or have completed a PhD in
the last three years and should have a background in neuroimaging,
psychology, neurosciences, physics, biomedical engineering, network
neuroscience or a related discipline. It is highly desirable that
applicants have experience conducting research in an interdisciplinary
environment.

[Freesurfer] tksurfer error

2012-02-22 Thread Signe Bray
Hi,

I have been experiencing an error with tksurfer. It occurs when I am
trying to generate an occipital patch, following these instructions:
http://surfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/fswiki/FreeSurferOccipitalFlattenedPatch

I open a surface using: tksurfer SUBJ lh inflated -curv lh.curv

Following the steps, when I click the surface and press the Fill Uncut
Area button, tksurfer crashes with the following error:

tksurfer.bin: tnl/t_vertex.c:407: update_input_ptrs: Assertion
`a[j].inputstride == vptr-stride' failed.

I have also experienced this problem zooming out on a specific surface
patch.

I have seen this problem in different forms on the mailing list, but have
not seen any solutions or workarounds:
