Which methods do you mean? 'mris_pmake' essentially uses Dijkstra's
algorithm -- using FreeSurfer vertices as graph nodes, and the mesh
connections between vertices as edges. The definition of edge can mean
many things, from simple distance (in which mris_pmake will optimize for
shortest path along the mesh) to something like curvature which isn't a
distance metric and in which case mris_pmake will minimize some function
of curvature along all paths on the mesh.
