Hello, I received a license key by email, but cannot find where in the

It should go in a file named .license and placed in your FREESURFER_HOME
directory. Note the leading dot in the filename.

[Freesurfer] Invalid FreeSurfer license key "sometimes"

2017-03-02 Thread anna calvo
Hello FreeSurfer Developers,

We are attempting to install Freesurfer 5.3 on a server. We have an odd
problem. When we run any FS command from this server we get a license
error: Invalid FreeSurfer license key found in license file
/opt/Ngs_analysis/programs/freesurfer/5.3/freesurfer/.license

But when the same freesurfer called from another server we can run
freesurfer without problems.

So we think that maybe is an error from the eviroment.

The server where FS is installed is suse 2011 and the server where run FS
instructions and works is centos 2017. I don't know if it helps.

Also we have a problem apptempting to install Freesurfer 6.0 on that sever
we allways get a license error wherever we call it.

I've searche the list and no similar errors have been reported. Does anyone
have any thought on ho to trouble-shoot this one? Also, I've attached the
recon-all.log and enviroment infromation.

1)FreeSurfer version:
freesurfer-Linux-centos6_x86_64-stable-pub-v5.3.0, we don't find any
other version. We have freesurfer runing in other machine with suse
also freesurfer-Linux-centos6_x86_64-stable-pub-v5.3.0 but in
version file is write
freesurfer-x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu-stable5-20130513 either in the
version file of our server is write
freesurfer-x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu-stable5-20130513. In the website
I just see for dowloading centos version and in the email list says
that is not tested but people says that no have problems.

Hi KC

Are you naming the file “license.txt” or “licence.txt”. We look for the former,
not the latter. And is there a .license.txt in that directory? And if so, where
did it come from?

Yes, I named the file correctly as “license.txt” and saved it in
/usr/local/freesurfer. ERROR: Invalid FreeSurfer license key found in
license file /usr/local/freesurfer/license.txt

Besides the error I mentioned already, I am also getting another error
while trying to run 'Freeview'.

*freeview.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libpng12.so.0: cannot

Please advise.

[Freesurfer] License Key issue (not recognized)

2009-05-14 Thread ozgun ozalay
Hi;

I'm Ozgun Ozalay, researcher at Ege University/Turkey. One of my friends
recommended FreeSurfer's "mri_convert" program to convert my Siemens
.IMA files to a more common format .nii.

i've downloaded freesurfer from your wiki pages and made my registration
too. i've recieved an e-mail with details of my license. Upon installing
"freesurfer" to /home/ozgun/AnV/freesurfer i configured enviroment too
as described in wiki with bash shell;

  /export FREESURFER_HOME=/home/ozgun/freesurfer/

  /source $FREESURFER_HOME/SetUpFreeSurfer.sh/

I recieved no errors during this process.

   /source /home/ozgun/AnV/freesurfer/SetUpFreeSurfer.sh/

  / freesurfer-Linux-centos4_x86_64-stable-pub-v4.3.0
  /

  /Setting up environment for FreeSurfer/FS-FAST (and FSL)/

  /FREESURFER_HOME /home/ozgun/AnV/freesurfer//

  /FSFAST_HOME /home/ozgun/AnV/freesurfer//fsfast/

  /FSF_OUTPUT_FORMAT nii/

  /SUBJECTS_DIR /home/ozgun/AnV/freesurfer//subjects/

  /MNI_DIR /home/ozgun/AnV/freesurfer//mni/

  /FSL_DIR /home/ozgun/AnV/FSL/fsl/

But when i try to execute "mri_convert" it says my license isn't ok.

  /oz...@linux-dkvs:~/AnV/freesurfer/bin> ./mri_convert
  /home/ozgun/AnV/orn.IMA/

Hi Neda

how did you copy and past them? Make sure you didn't introduce any extra
carriage return/line feeds and such.

Yes, their is a known issue with your version of Suse Linux and the freesurfer
5.3 license checking scheme. The issue was fixed in the latest release. If you
need to keep 5.3 then I can converse offline for a potential workaround to
getting it working on the server running Suse Linux.

Hello KC,

You should try getting a new license.txt
via,https://secure-web.cisco.com/1F7uoRb2K1btXJW51ulbB_sBWkHIL6Y-0iC-V12bpS6ARSnSCnTnzh8RCoF6Z4Je_82aO6scEUh-lUgb_jFF8BK0DXv1YclheWrZcXlU34LZbzPy4u8J_y-LOVDRqV1zVbvdARtW3hj624HIIaHHWjB0tUGH2AC1k3YHCNEKYighMA_qBqn2AMJ6qLJSgXAwGhN8DA5mMXMTigCxPNEnlqC1G9CunZpTh0xa84TWyjB83O_l4WnhjY-jb17z9zayKDl6FxFBTSVeQcotpqA4pQXffe6_LJPCGwvdncs7VCLI8H7xlxhGzmHPhQf0T6KM72hbIq_nKsDJz1-V9UCbSDg/https%3A%2F%2Fsurfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu%2Fregistration.html
to use on the new system instead of your existing license.txt.  How
licenses are read on your new system may no longer works with your old
freesurfer license.txt file.
The libpng12.so error may be because that is not installed on your new
system.  If you let us know what operating system your new system is
running, e.g., CentOS8, Ubuntu 20, etc. then maybe we can help you with that.

Thank you so much for your reply, Bruce and Ruopeng.
I will do what you have advised. However, when I reinstalled FreeSurfer
(Version 6) in my system (ubuntu 16.04 LTS), I downloaded the new
license.txt. I did not use the existing one. Also, I used a separate email
ID for getting a new license file in my new system in the notion that I
already had a license file in my other email ID.

I will do as you advised.

[Freesurfer] "Invalid FreeSurfer license key" with v5.3.0-HCP on Opensuse Leap

2017-12-10 Thread Cholewa, John
We're having difficulties running mri_convert with a freshly-downloaded license
key (as well as one that was generated some time ago when this version of
Freesurfer was installed. It's version 5.3.0-HCP, running on Opensuse Leap
42.2. A glance at the list suggests that there's a suse-specific problem with
version 5.3. Is there any workaround I could apply to get around the issue?
Since we're using the Human Connectome Project's version, we can't update to
6.0, and we likely need to use the same version as we have been using to keep
our research consistent anyway.

Here's the error output:

If you are outside the NMR-Martinos Center,
  go to http://surfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu to
get a valid license file (it's free).
If you are inside the NMR-Martinos Center,
make sure to source the standard environment.

[Freesurfer] Help resolving ERROR: Invalid FreeSurfer license key found in license file

2016-06-13 Thread Suzanne Witt
Hej.

I recently tried to create a license file for a Unix-based installation of
FreeSurfer that previously had no license file associated with it. With the
help of our IT people, I have tried copying the lines I received via email into
a file named ‘license.txt’ and then following responses I found on the message
board to similar problems, into a file named ‘.license’. In both cases, I get
the same error:

ERROR: Invalid FreeSurfer license key found in license file
/usr/local/freesurfer/license.txt
or
ERROR: Invalid FreeSurfer license key found in license file
/usr/local/freesurfer/.license

I have since tried performing a completely new installation of freesurfer,
recreating the .license file using a text editor (per a previous message found
about this error on the message boards). I am still receiving the same invalid
FreeSurfer license error message. To the best that I can figure out, there do
not appear to be any sort of ‘end of line’ characters in any of the iterations
of our attempts to create this license file.

I have noticed many messages about this error in the archives, but none of the
suggested fixes seem to be working for me.

Any help at this point would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

suzanne
