Re: [Freeswitch-users] Freeswitch freezes on increasing call traffic

2009-02-05 Thread paul.degt
Look like you use Fedora. I had a lot of issues with using Fedora as
production or load test system, in my opinion it's more like work in
progress than a production ready stable linux. If you cannot buy RHEL or
SLES use Centos.

Re: [Freeswitch-users] How to remove default users?

2009-04-27 Thread paul.degt
I use release 1.0.3. It's gone after I deleted default.xml with
pointers. Thanks for the hint.
Interesting that this file does not have any password information but I
still was able to register, so looks like until pointers exist FS keeps
user data in db.

[Freeswitch-users] Voice mail: skip announcement

2009-04-28 Thread paul.degt
Is there a way to skip "the person at extension..." announcement when
forwarding a call to voice mail, so that it starts recording
immediately, or just says something like "start recording..."?
Also, is it possible to turn off voice mail play back feature, meaning
when somebody tries to leave a voice mail one needs to press a button
to end message and then VM suddenly plays it back?
I see there's sounds.xml but not sure it help me to do what I need , is
there any write up on how to customize it?
Would appreciate some directions.

[Freeswitch-users] Phones become unreachable after some time

2009-04-29 Thread paul.degt
I use FS 1.0.3 with Grandstream HT386 and X-Lite soft phones, FS binds
to Mysql DB for SIP registrations, presence etc.
I noticed that after some time probably >30 min. phones which have been
registered but without making calls become unreachable. Meaning that any
call to such extension gets forwarded to VM as if it was offline, until
I reload such phone.
I did try to make the phones to register every 5 min. but it does not
help. I also see valid registration information in sip_registrations
table. X-Lite has r-port and keep alive settings on.
Would appreciate any hints on what can be the issue here.

They do, but all necessary ports for FS are open. If that is fw issue,

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Phones become unreachable after some time

2009-04-30 Thread paul.degt
Correction: 2 min. registration timeout does not work for either
Grandstream 386 nor for X-Lite.
Will try 1 min., but I am skeptical. Grandstream has other weird issues
btw, like not getting dial tone from first attempt or sometimes giving
buzzing noise instead of one.

My fw is fairly old Netgear unit, would newer models be better in this
area, or I need SIP-aware one?

[Freeswitch-users] Segfaults with core dump, how to handle

2009-05-03 Thread paul.degt
We experience sporadic seg faults in our production FS, version 1.0.3,
load is very low, 10-15 users, runs under Centos 5.2 2.6.18-92.1.22.el5
SMP 64-bit. This is what I get in system log:
May 3 10:39:01 hostname kernel: freeswitch[7578]: segfault at
 rip 2aaab098e236 rsp 40cdde50 error 4

Need advice on the best way to handle the situation, since it's our
production switch I hesitate to use trunk version, we may hit some other
unknown bugs.
Which version is considered currently stable enough for production use?

Thanks.

Yes, that's one of the reasons. Another point is that GPL v.3 is defined
more clearly from legal perspective, at least from our legal adviser
point of view.

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Open source Java based inbound event socket library available

2009-06-20 Thread paul.degt
As I mentioned the decision was influenced by our legal adviser. And it
probably can be relicensed as MPL/GPL, but why?
My understanding is that for an end user which wants to use a free open
source software there should be absolutely no difference between GPL and
MPL.
But if any one has has any licensing concern with his particular use
case - please contact me with the details, I will do what I can to help.

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Open source Java based inbound event socket library available

2009-06-20 Thread paul.degt
Not unless you combining GPL and MPL code in one binary, which I find
highly improbable in case of FreeSwitch.
And even in this case there seems to be a workaround:

"However, MPL 1.1 has a provision (section 13) that allows a program (or
parts of it) to offer a choice of another license as well.
If part of a program allows the GNU GPL as an alternate choice, or any
other GPL-compatible license as an alternate choice,
that part of the program has a GPL-compatible license."

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Open source Java based inbound event socket library available

2009-06-20 Thread paul.degt
That's rather bold statement and indicates lack of knowledge on the
subject . I would advise you to look at
http://www.fsf.org/licensing/licenses/gpl-faq.html on GPL information.
In fact proprietary applications can use/modify GPL software with no
limitations or obligations towards authors. The only requirement is if
such applications will be published/distributed it must be done under
GPL license. If that's a problem - just ask authors to release a
commercial version for such purpose.
I think GPL is fair and easy to deal with.

Re: [Freeswitch-users] How to change database of freeswitch cdr to MySQL?

2009-06-25 Thread paul.degt
You can use FS XML Curl - FS sends XML CDRs to a web server of your
choice, and there you do whatever you want with these CDRs, like store
in a database.
There are also pre-built solutions available, check here:
http://versafon.com/versafonweb/CommercialSupport.jsp

problematic. :-(
I did not see my posts as strictly ads since we offer free software as
