[Freeswitch-users] Freeswitch taking too long to start up

2009-06-02 Thread Muhammad Shahzad
Hi,

I have just upgraded Freeswitch from svn revision 12432 to 13544. I am using
32bit CentOS 5.3, "make current" command completes successfully without any
errors but when i start freeswitch it take considerable time (roughly 90 -
120 seconds) to start up. During this time no message is display on console.
Once successfully started, it works fine. However, this initial delay is
really annoying. Is there anyway to reduce/remove this delay?

Thank you.

As I understand it, a new 'feature' was added over the weekend to
resolve NAT. If you're firewall is not allowing ICMP then FS waits
until it times out. At this time there is no option to disable it.

Actually Brain mentioned that you can comment out switch_nat_init();
in switch_core.c

You shouldn't have to use the switch anymore. That is unless you just
wanna skip that check.

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Freeswitch taking too long to start up

2009-06-03 Thread Muhammad Shahzad
I do understand the importance of NAT, i just want to know where it sends
ICMP ping (refer to NiK reply below) to compute NAT type? Right now i am
enhancing a few FS modules for a specific business model. Once it is done
and fully tested, i would put it in production, where i have to take care of
NAT issues as well. So, if i know its NAT detection mechanism, it would be
easier for me to configure it properly during production deployment.

Also if my employer approves, i would like to share my customization (fully
or partially) with FS community. How can i get a developer account? What
else is required to become an official FS developer?

Thank you.
