The DIR_GAMES setup has changed in freevo cvs. have you updated your

Maybe you can add some detection to config.py to print a warning when
DIR_GAMES ist wrong.

[Freevo-users] xine not playing DVD's,Mplayer instead?

2003-09-16 Thread keir johnson
I've got a problem with xine playing dvd's...it doesn't (says they're
'locked')--both inside freevo interface and directly within xine. I am in
the US and my DVD is a normal US DVD.

I've already got Mplayer working with DVD's just fine. Is there a setting
where I can tell Freevo to use Mplayer to play movies instead of xine?

I'm running RH8.0, Freevo 1.3.2 (1.3.4 wouldn't cooperate at all!), xine
0.9.13, and Mplayer 0.90.

Thanks,
Keir

RE: [Freevo-users] windows

2003-09-16 Thread Gray, Tim

If you
want a freevo for windows look for myhtpc.

as for
linux having poor drivers support right now linux supports more hardware
than windows XP by microsoft's own admission..(Look at the Hardware
compatability List) and USB has given me no problems for the past 2
years.

Oh and
good luck getting PVR features working smoothly under windows... many of
my myHTPC friends droool over my freevo box that just simply works there in the
stereo cabinet.

I have
yet to find someone that can get Tv recording working well on a windows box in a
freevo-type of setup.

I'm just wondering if Freevo will ever work with
Microsoft Windows. Freevo on Linux is nice, but once you get outside of
Freevo, you are stuck with Linux and its limitations such as poor driver
support and difficulty handling USB things with ease like Windows
  does.

AW: [Freevo-users] autostart

2003-09-16 Thread Torsten Stern
Hello.

Today I changed my hdd cause the old one was too loud vor an htpc... ;o)
I installed gentoo linux and then freevo...i setup the config files like
the old ones, because its the same...freevo 1.3.4.
Hopefully i typed freevo in the console...but all i get is this error:

ROM_DRIVES: Auto-detected and added ('/mnt/cdrom',
'/dev/cdroms/cdrom0', 'CD-1')
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File src/main.py, line 134, in ?

_singleton = util.SynchronizedObject(OSD())
File src/osd.py, line 330, in __init__
pygame.display.init()
pygame.error: Unable to open mouse

Weird, cause I disabled the mouse in the kernel and on the old hdd it
works...i did some tests, but everytime the same error.
I copied the old freevo bins to a test dir an try to start the old
one...no luck! Same error...pygame.error =(

Hope that someone can help, thx.
