[Freevo-users] tv sound (sort of), but no video

2003-12-30 Thread Joe Stump
Well I dist-upgraded my Debian and screwed myself ... Everything seems to
be in order (XML listings show up fine, etc.) - but tvtime won't play in
the console or via freevo.

There is an SDL screensaver, nothing like xscreensaver.. I'm trying to
compile it now (fireflies, http://somewhere.fscked.org/fireflies/)

Actually reading the docs it is an extension to xscreensaver but it can
run as standalone on sdl.. Hmm, were breaking the bounds of my
understanding on this one..

Question, I'm running X11 on this desktop. Is it possible to run SDL
under or over it to test this or do I need to wait till I have access to
my g400 at home?

Re: [Freevo-users] Old Question Reborn-No Sound

2003-12-30 Thread Alex Polite

Sounds like a mixer setting problem to me. Different cards have
slightly different names for the mixer channels. At my place I have to
set the mixer to capture from "Line" and set the volume for "Line" to
something other then 0. In addition to that I have to set the volume
for "Capture" to something other then 0.

Also I've just found out that I have to set

CONTROL_ALL_AUDIO   = 0

in local_conf.py or Freevo will set "Line" volume to 0 at random intervals.

Good luck.

Right.

No, there shouldn't be a problem with that.

we could add a config variable SCREENSAVER with the screensaver
command. It could also be possible to use mplayer to play a
screensaver.

Re: [Freevo-users] screensaver idea

2003-12-30 Thread Michael Ruelle
It is doable. It would have to be a daemonplugin with the event_listener
attribute set toTRUE. you could then track when events happened in an
eventhandler and then use the poll method of the dameonplugin to see
when the last event happened and call the screensaver if that value is
larger than your threshhold. And of course putting something in
eventhandler for you to wakeup and kill the screemsaver when you recieve
and event (since it may come from lirc and the screensaver may not get
out of the way.)

Only two real big issues with this:

1. I have had reports that the daemonplugins setup like this won't
recieve events if you are in the main menu. (gonna have to see if that's
true later, not at home now)
2. It would only work for people with X11 based setups, unless there are
console based fb screensavers. I guess we could try to force screen
blanking in fb setups

Re: [Freevo-users] screensaver idea

2003-12-30 Thread Alex Polite

I had this working from /etc/lirc/lircmd.conf

I didn't have it start automatically but instead I would have one
remote button toggle xscreensaver on/off. Why not play around with
variations on that theme? The solution is simple and completely
independent of Freevo.

By setting

CONTROL_ALL_AUDIO   = 0

in local_conf.py
