AW: [Freevo-users] Setting up a freevo box on MSI Hermes 651P...
Hi, thanks for the feedback. Please find my comments to your comments between the lines. -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:freevo-users- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Im Auftrag von Gray, Tim Gesendet: Montag, 12. Januar 2004 19:46 An: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Betreff: RE: [Freevo-users] Setting up a freevo box on MSI Hermes 651P... good luck getting mplayer to play anything fullscreen on any framebuffer other than the Matrox G400. It is already working. The only tricky thing was the append line in lilo.conf. and if you do find a way to get mplayer to play fullscreen on the generic framebuffer... please let me know! The generic frame buffer does not work. I am using the sisfb driver. The generic frame buffer only let me use 640x480x8. I strongly suggest you go the X window route to get mplayer to scale fullscreen, Perhaps you mean hardware scaling? Software scaling works. do not use a window manager as that adds only un-needed bloat, specifying a single line to start freevo in your .xinitrc should do the job. I thought that the X window system itself is un-needed bloat compared to the frame buffer solution. But perhaps I am missing something here. I will try your suggestion. Perhaps the bloat really only consists in the window manager. KDE really needs a little time to start up. use the sis driver in Xfree86. although the vesa driver also works with this chipset and still enables the XV playback acceleration on mpeg2 files. There is one sis driver in debian woody which does not seem to work. I am going to try to download it from Thomas Winischhofers page. Also cince you have i810 for your audio, you are also suffering with the chipset limitations... the latest alsa fixes most of those, the OSS drivers I believe are legacy as alsa is now the standard for linux sound as of 2.4.6.. Ok, I have heard of this. But it was really easy to get OSS running and it sounds good... Which limitations do I have with this? you MUST set mplayer to record at 48000 if you are recording from the line-in. and the sound is cleaner if you are able to force the sound output to 48000. I have not tried recording yet... It sounds like your machine has the same hardware my micro-ATX motherboard has..(except for the tv out... that is nice that yours has that.) Yes, that's one reason I have bought exactly this box. It should have a really good TV out. Which I haven't even tried out yet... But for some reasons, framebuffer output doesn't work for me as user. It's more a SDL problem than a freevo one. It also seems that freevo does not like it at all when I try to enter a directory (e.g. from the Play music menu) and there are files which freevo is not allowed to read. th etv out resolution is 720x480 in the united states and japan + the vertical blanking lines that you dont see. no matter what you set the card to, 640x480 or 800x600 you will get the 720x480 standard NTSC size out the tv out. Re: [Freevo-users] recording..
Hi, record_daemon which used to be run from cron is depricated, as are the docs you are reading (which should be updated). It sounds as if your recordserver is running so please look into the logs to see what is happening, it is most likely that your VCR_CMD is failing. You should find your logs in /var/log/freevo/ or /tmp/freevo/ if that doesn't exist. -Rob Bikr wrote: Just wanted to say that it doesn't seem to record at all , even if i Try to record manually.. any ideas?? still no sign of record_daemon.py or whatever either.. =\ - Original Message - *From:* Bikr mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] *To:* [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] *Sent:* Tuesday, January 13, 2004 10:52 AM *Subject:* [Freevo-users] recording daemon py?? RE: [Freevo-users] recording..
Have a look at the command line freevo is using to kick off the recording. Sounds like you're not specifying :input=# or something similar on your command line. If you're using mencoder to record, its completely separate from freevo - ie, freevo shouldn't need to be running. What I found easiest, was to take freevo's command line, and play with it until it recorded fine, then take those changes and make them to VCR_CMD in local_config.py Cheers Dave Smylie -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bikr Sent: Wednesday, 14 January 2004 7:56 a.m. To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [Freevo-users] recording.. Re: [Freevo-users] recording..
It starts recording ok and i'm using input as /dev/video0 if i set it to video1 or any other video* that is in /dev , it doesnt' do anything at all just doesn't run , video0 runs but it is all static that is recording. When I watch tv @ the box though with freevo , i get a picture.. my command line is this.. bash-2.05b# /usr/bin/mencoder -tv :driver=v41:input=0:norm=NTSC:channel=61:chanlist=us-cable:width=320:heigh t=240:outfmt=yv12:device=/dev/video0:adevice=/dev/dsp:audiorate=32000:forcea udio:forcechan=1:buffersize=64 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=1200:keyinit=30 -oac mp3lame -lameopts br=128:cbr:mode=3 -ffourcc divx -endpos 1789 -o /media/tv/0-13_11:30_Real_TV_-_.avi tv:// - Original Message - From: Dave Smylie [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 6:49 PM Subject: RE: [Freevo-users] recording.. Re: [Freevo-users] recording..
I also just tried with input 1 instead of 0 input 1 gives me blue screen , as it appears to be the rca in on the card. . 0 I'm sure is probably the correct one , but for some reason , it's not getting the signal from the card , could it be tuning in to the wrong frequency for the channels? I tried a few channels and none of them seem to work .. --Josh - Original Message - From: Bikr [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, January 13, 2004 7:23 PM Subject: Re: [Freevo-users] recording..
