Ok. You can verify the RPMs using 'rpm -K *rpm', you should install the
GPG key (availble from the Wiki Installation page) beforehand using
'rpm --import *asc'

You didn't state your distro, I'm assuming Fedora Core 2.
You have to be careful which version you use, since FC2 has a new python
version and all libraries are stored under /usr/lib/python2.3/. I can't
tell (easily) from the packages installed whether you're using packages
for RedHat / Fedora Core 1, or else Fedora Core 2. You can check the
path for the installed packages (rpm -qil ) and verify they
are valid for python 2.3.

 I think this needs to be updated, rh90 uses python 2.2.3

 similarly for this package. mx comes with FC2, you can use that
instead.

 Did you use rc2_fc2 or the one with just rc2?
I released the RH9 packages without additional suffix, you should use
rc2_fc2 for Fedora Core 2.

Re: [Freevo-users] SDL 1.2.7 DXR3 Patch?

2004-06-06 Thread Justin Wetherell
DXR3 doesn't not work with 1.2.7. The only combo that I could get
running is: SDL-1.2.6 and ffmpeg-0.4.6. You can try the instructions at
my site: freevo.webalias.com I have patch downloads and SDL/ffmpeg
downloads there also.

OK, I did the best I could since I don't have a keyboard attached.
I started "freevo -fs" after "export MMPYTHON_DEBUG=2" I hope that's OK,
and inserted the dvd (after removing the cache)

[Freevo-users] New release canditate: Freevo 1.5.0-rc3

2004-06-06 Thread Dirk Meyer
On the road to 1.5.0, here is a new pre-release. It's a bugfix release
with only a few new features. The complete changelog:

  * Make it possible to move inside a zoom in image viewer
  * Main loop rewrite
  * Auto detect movies with more than one file
  * Chapter support for video files
  * Improved pot file generation (i18n)

I hope this to be the last release canditate before 1.5.0. So please
report all bugs you find in this release. If you reported a bug before
and it's still in this release, please report it again. And if you
have some free time, please update the translations for your language.

Files:

  * mmpython 0.4.3
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=75590&package_id=76071
  * Freevo 1.5.0-rc3
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=46652&package_id=74290

Gentoo users can use the reactivated rsync-freevo script to update the
local portage tree: http://freevo.sf.net/gentoo/rsync-freevo

OK, the mmpython part thinks it's a DataInfo, no movie DVD. Now remove
the cache again and start
| export MMPYTHON_DEBUG=2

Send me the _complete_ trace! Also send the output of

No really. The only manual way is mminfo, but that seems to work for
you. Very strange. Freevo does the same as mminfo. But maybe we can
find it with some extra debug messages. Every time you test, please
make sure you removed the mmpython cache for that disc.

Now, open src/util/mediainfo.py. Search for the function 'disc_info'.
And now replace it with the following function with more debug:

def disc_info(media):
"""
return mmpython disc information for the media
"""
type, id  = cdrom_disc_id(media.devicename)
if not id:
# bad disc, e.g. blank disc
return {}

print '*** disc info check ***'
print type, id
cachedir  = os.path.join(config.OVERLAY_DIR, 'disc/metadata')
cachefile = os.path.join(cachedir, id + '.mmpython')

print cachedir
print cachefile
print media.devicename

if os.path.isfile(cachefile):
print 'cached data'
mmdata = util.read_pickle(cachefile)
else:
print 'parse with mmpython'
mmdata = mmpython.parse(media.devicename)
if not mmdata:
print '*'
print 'Error detecting the disc'
print 'Please contact the developers'
print '*'
else:
print mmdata
util.save_pickle(mmdata, cachefile)

cachefile = os.path.join(cachedir, id + '.freevo')

leave the rest of the function as it is!!!

Send me the debug messages.

I remove all info in /home/freevo/.freevo/vfs/disc before trying the
disc again, where should there be more cache files?

[Freevo-users] How to use xine as DVD-Player

2004-06-06 Thread Markus Bonet
Hi,
I am unable to configure freevo 1.5rc2 to use xine as DVD-Player when a
DVD is inserted.
I uncommented the predefined configuration for the suffixes to be used
with freevo and put in "xine" as the preferred player.
All mpg's and avi's are now played with xine (even with viaexp which is
linked to xine) but when I want to play a DVD, I have got no menus but a
listing of all vob's which are then played with mplayer.

What have I to configure else? There is no error output in the logs.
Kind regards
Markus

In the beginning, there was nothing. And God said, 'Let there be

mplayer has too many problems with that. Now xine is activated as
audio player by default and will be used for audio cds.
