[Freevo-users] global mplayer args

2005-08-18 Thread mike lewis
Hi,

how do I set clobal args for mplayer? I'm trying to set up
dts/ac3/pcm passthrough to an external amp. In mplayer I need to add
-ac hwdts,hwac3,pcm, to the command line, but I'd rather not have
to add it to each file type that mplayer plays?

Mick

Re: [Freevo-users] weather plugin hangs for non-root users

2005-08-18 Thread Andrej van der Zee
Hi,

It seems to me the weather plugin has a bug. It
creates read only files in the directories
/var/cache/freevo/weathercode/data belonging to the
user. If you login as another user and want to update
the weather Freevo will hang as it attempts to update
the file. You have to manually set the permissions of
the files to make it work again.

Greets,

Andrej

I had modified the permissions of the weather directories using chmod -R 777

Believe I did it permanently from within /etc/rc.d/rc.local

I'm not in front of a freevo box now but there is a MPLAYER_ARGS =
setting in local_conf.py should do the trick.

[Freevo-users] Connection Refused

2005-08-18 Thread Joe Laws
I solved the other problem I posted to the list about the missing
twisted.web.microdom package. I solved this by doing emerge
twisted-web twisted-xish This gave me the needed python packages.
Now I am running into another error. I still can get to the TV guide
to watch a show, but it says recordserver is down. When I try and
select a show on the TV guide this is what it says:

(111, 'Connection refused')
epg_xmltv.py (101): XMLTV, reading cached file
(/var/cache/freevo/TV.xml.pickled)
epg_xmltv.py (129): XMLTV, got cached guide (version 6).
(111, 'Connection refused')
tvguide.py (128): update schedule
(111, 'Connection refused')
USING STANDARD FREQUENCY: chan=2, freq=55250
logging child to /tmp/freevo/mplayer-stdout.log
logging child to /tmp/freevo/mplayer-stderr.log
self.t1.isAlive()=True, self.t2.isAlive()=True
ChildApp.__init__(), pid=5323, app= /usr/bin/mplayer -vo xv,sdl,x11,
-fs -autosync 100 -nolirc -autoq 100 -screenw 800 -screenh 600 -fs
-slave -nocache tv:// -tv
driver=v4l:freq=55.250:device=/dev/video0:input=0:norm=NTSC:width=640:height=480:outfmt=yuy2
, poll=0
1124416928.9: started tv app
tvguide.py (128): update schedule
(111, 'Connection refused')

I'm not sure what is causing this error as I dont think it is related
to missing packages. I think it may be some bad configuration
settings Any idea why it is refusing the connection?

This also may be important. When I run 'freevo tv_grab' it works fine
up until the very end where it says this:

Scheduling favorites for recording:
record_client: connection error

Thanks in advance,
-Joe

[Freevo-users] Re: freevo not finding installed mmpython - solution

2005-08-18 Thread Brett Grice
Not sure if it's any help to anyone but I had the same
error message trying to install Freevo , And yes
mmpython was installed.

python setyp.py install

checking for mmpython... not found

Turned out I had forgot to install PyXML which was the
cause of the problem. As soon as PyXML was installed
everything work just like a bought one.

Brett.

[Freevo-users] Connection Refused Solved

2005-08-18 Thread Joe Laws
The problem was that I needed to have the command

freevo recordserver

running in the background. unfortunately this is not documented
anywhere, at least anywhere that I found, and it should be for us
n00bs :-)
